Does anyone else create music in their head?
I have no music training whatsoever, nor do I know how to write music, yet I always have songs flowing through my head. I can usually create 'orchestral' music on the fly and can 'hear' the songs in my head. The songs never have words, they are purely instrumental. I also tend to take music I have heard and rearrange the notes to create my own remixes and 'play' them in my head. I usually create music when I am in a quiet, relaxing place.
Has anyone else ever experienced this???

I do. I dream about songs that I could write and hum it into a tape recorder. I create songs in my head too.
I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it will be with a knife.

If I offended you, please let me know via pm. I tend to do it without realizing it. I can be clueless as to how my humor comes across. Please be nice about it.

Yes, mainly classical songs that are sad or dramatic.

Yes. Yes. Oh, God, yes. All the time. It never ends. It's too bad I'm mediocre at best when it comes to musical notation and theory, which confuse the living s*** out of me. I have some experience with MIDI sequencing, but the program I use is difficult to get the hang of (to put it mildly), and my finished compositions are half-baked and underwhelming (if not overly derivative and borderline plagiaristic).
Also, I cannot sing or play any musical instruments competently (even though everyone else in my family can, and I was trained intensively in the musical discipline, early in my life, to no avail). I lack the necessary mental clarity and manual dexterity to do so.

I do occasionally have dreams of new music. I mean a melody that I've never heard before but was pervasive in my dream. This doesn't happen often. I really should have a tape recorder handy under my bed just in case I have such a dream. A short while later I forget the tune entirely.

I do not. I think about shapes often times. Or...a word.

Also, to prevent myself from talking sometimes I think "Google" and try to visualize the logo; the only downside is I will say it aloud occasionally - whomever is near will then say "what?" as if I was speaking to them.

I don't create my own music in my head, but I sure have random bits of others' popping in unbidden, sometimes just for a brief visit and sometimes like the unwelcome mother-in-law who decides to stay 'just for a while'.

RE: Does anyone else create music in their head?
I compose music my head quite often. I'm a musician though so I have an outlet to 'move' the song onto my computer with keyboards/guitars etc. I can't say that I've ever remixed a song before though lol, that sounds like a cool idea. I'm going to try it next time I zone out.
I find my brain imagining what things might sound like. It's a auditory imagination that I'm speaking of. I get obsessed over what something will sound like if I rub my hand on it, or scratch at it, or hit it with a stick. Then I tend to try and make music out of the textures.
So I walk around with a microphone all day and record the audio of my surroundings and footsteps in the snow, creaking floorboards. That way I can mix the samples into the song I was making in my head and relive that moment in time.

I'm not that much of a musician, although I do spend some time imagining what some 8-bit video game tunes would sound like if they were released in the twenty-first century.
Otherwise, tunes just tend to stick in my head and repeat.

I don't make music up in my head consciously, but that dream thing has happened to me a few times before. Sometimes I really like the tune so it's depressing when I forget it.
If they take my hand, will it be to burn me or to say amen?
