What are you doing for the Royal Wedding?
Are you going to watch the Royal Wedding on television? Or do anything else to celebrate the day?

RE: What are you doing for the Royal Wedding?
I'll be watching with my little girl, she's soooooo excited about a girl becoming a princess (she thought it only happened in fairytales lol)
When I am an old woman, I shall wear purple with a red hat that doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves and satin candles, and say we've no money for butter.I shall sit down on the pavement when I am tired and gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells and run my stick along the public railings and make up for the sobriety of my youth.I shall go out in my slippers in the rain and pick the flowers in other people's gardens. And learn to spit...

RE: What are you doing for the Royal Wedding?
I'm ignoring it. I may read Billy Bragg's and Pete Seeger's lyrics to the "Internationale."
Stand up, all victims of oppression
For the tyrants fear your might
Don't cling so hard to your possessions
For you have nothing, if you have no rights
Let racist ignorance be ended
For respect makes the empires fall
Freedom is merely privilege extended
Unless enjoyed by one and all
Chorus:
So come brothers and sisters
For the struggle carries on
The Internationale
Unites the world in song
So comrades come rally
For this is the time and place
The international ideal
Unites the human race
Let no one build walls to divide us
Walls of hatred nor walls of stone
Come greet the dawn and stand beside us
We'll live together or we'll die alone
In our world poisoned by exploitation
Those who have taken, now they must give
And end the vanity of nations
We've but one Earth on which to live
And so begins the final drama
In the streets and in the fields
We stand unbowed before their armour
We defy their guns and shields
When we fight, provoked by their aggression
Let us be inspired by life and love
For though they offer us concessions
Change will not come from above
(Chorus)
It is no measure of health to be well-adjusted
to a profoundly sick society. - Krishnamurti

RE: What are you doing for the Royal Wedding?
One of my friends is having a "do", with the Royal Wedding as a side-show for anyone who cares enough to watch it. Between spring breaks, Easter and other public holidays Scottish children are only at school for 6 days this month, and my friend has 3 children, so she's inviting folk round to keep the children occupied as much as anything else.
My soon to be ex-husband will also be there, which normally wouldn't be much of a problem, but yesterday he said he was going to report me to Social Work (for leaving a 9 year old at home for a few minutes while I went next door to the church and then refusing to promise that I will never leave my son in the house on his own even for the shortest time, or while I walk to the other side of the church car park in the front of the house!) so I'm not particularly keen on his company right now, but I'm not going to change my plans because of him either.

I'm doing nothing. As always.

I am curious how she will look. How her dress will look. I like her. She has an open, kind smile. She reminds me of a good-natured girl I went to school with.

RE: What are you doing for the Royal Wedding?
I'm going to watch it whilst eating a big piece of cake Royal weddings don't happen very often after all and I want to see the wedding dress. I saw something in the media about Kate, that she had lost a lot of weight and they were all going on about how thin she has gotten. Well is it any surprise!!?? The poor girl is probably super stressed.......she is facing millions of people watching her every move and getting married......how horrifying!!!

RE: What are you doing for the Royal Wedding?
Yeah, I found getting married stressful enough with about 50 people watching. Imagine if millions of people had watched...
So I'll do them a favour and not watch - makes one less! Friday is my day off and I'm getting myself a new bike - yay!!!!
NT but odd!

RE: What are you doing for the Royal Wedding?
Just thanking God I don't have a partner with all kinds of crap from other people coming along with him for me to have to deal with. (But when I had Jack I had a little bit of that, but that little bit went a long way. )
I would never want my life micromanaged by someone else.

RE: What are you doing for the Royal Wedding?
I hate all the snobs about her being a commoner. I do not care for all the snobbiness. The monarchy are mostly useless but then I find the elected members of parliament to often be totally useless for running the country anyway.
I am planning to enjoy watching the wedding and all on the television. I am making special sandwiches, pulled out some cupcakes. I might buy some fruit. I have some sore stitches from surgery last week so I do not know if I will make it out to the grocery store today.
