Question  Sherlock Holmes- aspie or not.

Is Sherlock Holmes aspie. I think so.
The way he thinks, talks and acts are symptoms.
as he once said "The game is afoot."
then so is this thread...

Yeah, he really is aspie, don''t watch the show too often though, but even watching one episode points out that he is aspie.

Sherlock is definitively an aspie, he sees details other doesn't see, the special interest, the way he is absorbed by it, his life style...
Professor Michael Fitzgerald makes claims that Sir Artur Conan Doyle was an aspie too.

That's the very reason why Holmes is an Aspie. Writers who have Autistic/Aspie characters that aren't too typical or look bad are normally Autistic/Aspie, have studied well or know someone.

RE: Sherlock Holmes- aspie or not.

Sort of 'bumping' this thread, but I just finished watching 'The Hounds of Baskerville', and there's a scene where Lestrade says something like, "He probably likes having all the familiar faces around, ya know, because of his..." and then Watson says, "Asperger's?" I laughed my head off right there.
Anyways, this seems to be an unofficial confirmation that he's Aspie and not a sociopath, as he claimed in the first season. (Considering he's able to show emotions, that claim didn't make much sense anyways. Sociopaths don't care about anyone except in a superficial sense, enough to pass inspection).
By the way, anyone get a freaky feeling when they saw the end of 'Hounds'? Jim Moriarty clearly is obsessed with Sherlock. Maybe this Moriarty actually is gay and wants Sherlock for himself? (I'm not meaning any offense to the GBLT community. Just saying, that seems to be the way this series has painted Moriarty and his perceived relationship with Sherlock Holmes).

Everyone's an aspie if they fit a stereotypical phenotype.

From reading the books, I'd say yes, he is.  Also, he's a misogynistic jerk.  I much prefer Watson.

Frome the look of this picture, we should be asking whether or not he's gay!

There's been so many series/movies made from the books over the years.  My personal feeling is that the one with Jeremy Brett playing Sherlock Holmes is closest to the ätmosphere of the original books.  I can't get my head around the current actor playing him in the latest series of remakes, though - too young, too pretty, too bland.
