RE: A moment of empathy with Dr Phil

He was being a good father, in looking after his child. Just lost his temper.  He regreted his actions. That was good enough for me.

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. -- The Seminole County father arrested for confronting his daughter's alleged bullies on a school bus will not spend any time in jail. James Jones learned his fate in court Tuesday. Cash donations from across the country helped keep him out of jail.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Listen to your attorney, Mr. Jones, and good luck in the program," a judge said.

The sober advice of a judge ended the nationwide saga that Jones set off in September when he boarded a school bus, loudly ranting at his daughter's alleged bullies. Tuesday in court, Jones was quiet and contrite.

"It's justice. You know, I did wrong and I have to pay the price and we're not going to run from that," Jones said.

Jones' plea deal requires six months of probation, $1,300 in fines and fees, community service, along with anger management and victim awareness classes. He could have faced four months in jail for misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and disturbing a school function.

"Mr. Jones does not have a criminal record. I do not believe he would have spent time in jail," Jones' attorney Natalie Jackson said.

Jones says he is now trying to transition the rant he made in the front of the bus that day. He wants to turn it directly around so it reaches the type of kids who sit in the back of the bus, the bullies, and the world at large.

It seems many are responding. At least half of Jones' $1,300 in fine and fees will be covered by contributions from across the country. Most came through the Facebook fan page supporting Jones with 5,000 members.

"The people that know me, and they know we're out there, we're fighting against the bullies. We're not going to have it," Jones said.

If Jones completes all the requirements of his plea deal, the charges against him will be dismissed. He will be left with an arrest record, but no criminal history.

DISGUSTING!  Not 100% bad but still disgusting!  Clearly a miscarriage of justice.  It should have been the BULLIES ON TRIAL; not the father of the victim who was only trying to protect the victim from those low-life punks; especially given that other authority figures would just turn a blind eye to this.  Cases like this only embolden bullies.

From the sound of it, the little brats involved would have richly deserved a good crack round the side of the head.

The light blinds
So behold darkness as our new light
In our darkness we can see
So with others blindness
We take flight.

RE: A moment of empathy with Dr Phil

If someone did that to my baby, I'd have to be really careful because I know how protective and lioness-like I get with my kids.

I would've driven the child to school until the situation were resolved and tried to press criminal charges if possible.  I couldn't have gone near the bus for fear that I'd do something like the man on the show did.  I know that holding my temper is not my strong point.  I've learned over time to cool off before confronting something while my blood is still boiling.

RE: A moment of empathy with Dr Phil

You have to even wonder about the other kids on the bus.  If that girl is not there, the bullies will find another victim.

When I was a kid I just hated people making fun of the "retarded kids".  I would tell on them or even beat them up myself.  I hated having bullies in my school.  Most kids would not bully me physically because my parents taught me to hit back twice as hard.  I was taught to take the verbal taunts and throw them back as a joke.  Most of the time it worked.  I doubt this little girl could stand up to bullies herself.  Why were none of the other kids doing anything about it when it first started?  This generation of *** for brains will grow up to raise the same type of kids.

The thing is - if you read one of the other articles - it says that the school responded )after beign asked whether they knew of the bullying incident that supposedly incite the father) that "they had heard of the incident the day before but that it had happened to another child " (not his daughter).

So, let me guess - nothing ever came of that "fact". I also wonder whether any one else told their dad...

I particularly LOVED how the bully claimed he was "scared". Little ***. I'd love to give him a real reason to be scared.

I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it will be with a knife.

Likewise. What is so scary about a 12yo girl with cerebral palsy.

I am sure she is really likely to turn round and beat someone to death......

Now if one were to tie him down and start pulling his fingernails out with pliars....that would be scary......
