Aspies don't notice they're hurting others.

This is a boggling concept.  What constitutes hurting others?  I suppose this is a very subjective concept.  But I can say this, it's a tremendous slap in the face when you're accused of hurting another (others) especially when there were no bad intentions.  Aspies in many different situations could be perceived as hurting others; probably the most common being the "brutally honest" scenario.

I've been in situations with my brother regarding "brutally honest" situations on different occasions.  I was blindsided.  Apologizing and forgiveness were difficult.  The same thing happened with a friend who I cared about and admired.  I felt terrible afterwards and it feels even worse when you can't reverse the damage it caused.

Browse at the Asperger Partners forum.  You'll see so many NT wives/girlfriends/ex-wives/ex-girlfriends complain about how bad their (ex) partners are/were.  A common complaint was how the husbands/ex-husbands/boyfriends/ex-boyfriends hurt them.  How?!?  Lack of emotional support or maybe to say it more articulately, lack of emotional support expressed NT style.  But I know (I say this with an Aspie style of empathy) many of these men were heartbroken and were helpless in trying to "make things right".  I'm sure they were bewildered and frustrated.  Such unions (at least when the NT spouse can't live with non-NT mannerisms) are a volatile mix.
