The other point I want to make is when comparing sociopaths to Aspies; again it is very insulting to Aspies to think that they're in the same category.

Agreed. Totally. While there are superficial similarities and perhaps a few comorbids that we have in common, once you dig a bit deeper it is obvious that we are very different creatures indeed.

I guess that aspies may fall into two categories, those that are more vulnerable to sociopaths than NTs, and those who are less vulnerable. I like to think that I am less vulnerable, but then again I've been very slow to pick up that someone is a sociopath on several occasions, and I've been burnt. I am the kind of person that despises people forever who betray my trust, so once the sociopath does that then I am no longer vulnerable, regardless of the spin that the sociopath attempts to put on things or the excuses that he attempts to come up with. But I guess that I am just as vulnerable in the first place as any aspie. I am, however, very wary of the "instant best friend" phenomenon, which is often a dead giveaway to a sociopath's true nature.
