RE: Lovers and Companions, POST!
Do fictional characters count?
I've already asked some people.

Unfortunately they were all idiots. Last time I ask Republicans about anything unless I want to make fun of them...
Oh wait.
Where was I, oh yes. Do they count?
Meh, they do in my book.

Chris Christie is so fat, his lap-band is a symphony orchestra.

All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.

Or a Collector or Reaper?
Even the Geth have a sense of humor we as humans can understand...Well, Legion. Anyway, not the point, moving on.
So, yes. As I may have said before, my strongest relationship ((although I've only really had two and *1 tenth)) was with a fictional character.
*The one tenth was a "prank date" in which I was stood up*
Of course, that fictional character is Doctor Liara T'Soni. Who I'm actually older than, instead of the other way around when you think about it considering that she was born in 2077...
The relationship had it's flaws, like when I ((or rather Shepherd)) died during a Collector attack, only to be brought back two years later by Cerberus...
Still, a better relationship than I ever had with the Succubus who will remain anoymo...
**looks back in thread to see that he has actually mentioned her name**

Anyway, yes. That is the point I am trying to make, my in-game relationship with Liara has been stronger than any other relationship in my sixteen years and nine/ten months on this spec of life in the universe that we call Earth...
The advantage is that I can go back, time travel if you put it that way and re-live the whole thing.
That's the beauty of fiction, people! That is the beauty of gaming!

RE: Lovers and Companions, POST!
Non Mass Effect fan: So, how many relationships have you had?
Me: **counts** One, two, three, four, five. Two of which I don't count.
Non Mass Effect fan: Why not?
Me: One was a stood-up date, the other, well I'd rather not get into it. Let's just say four months of hell.
Non Mass Effect fan: What about the three others?
Me: Well, two of which were with the same person. I was different on both occasions though.
Non Mass Effect fan: How?
Me: I was a different Commander Shepherd.
Non Mass Effect fan: Commander Shepherd? **thinks** No, in-game relationships don't count you saddo!! They don't matter!! Liara isn't real!!

RE: Lovers and Companions, POST!

My soul
Burns
With a fire of darkness
Quenched only in the pain
Of loneliness
I hold my breath waiting
Until spots appear black as the past
And fill my lungs up with lies of hope
I mark myself
Black and jagged
To cover the scars
That make me a monster
A warning
This is not a place of honor
No esteemed dead are buried here
Normally people associate Jack as the "psychotic biotic", but inside she's sensitive. Something Joel Shepherd and myself discovered several years ago.
Next week: Some_Bloke discusses Steve Shepherd's relationship with Tali and Lilly Shepherd's relationship with Thane

RE: Lovers and Companions, POST!

Siha,
I write this with a heavy hand, knowing you will read this letter when I am no longer able to share my thoughts. I am dying, Siha. Perhaps because of the differences between our species, I can hope that time will treat you with kindness and dim the hurt of my passing to faded recollections that a drell would forever remember with perfect clarity.
Selfishly, however, I could not leave this world without leaving a piece of me behind that would never fade.
I once accepted my fate. Nothing remained but a shell destined to die. I only had to choose the when and how of my passing. I had refused to be confined to a bed, gasping horribly as my life beeped away to machinery I had no use for. I thought of my Irikah, broken, bloodied, and betrayed by my absence. Of Kolyat, small and afraid, bravely pushing at his eyes to stem the flow of tears I had entrusted to him to cry... for both our sakes.
The expectation to move swiftly to my end vanished upon uniting with your cause. You awoke me, Shepard. My heart quickened its sluggish beat if only to remain at your side and protect you with everything that I am. I was content to simply watch, take the time left given and praise all I know for allowing me to walk my final days with hope and certainty that I am worthy of more than my cold isolation, solely because you believed.
I love you. If all else whispers back into the tide, know this for fact. By grace given me by the Goddess Arashu, I bid her divine protection to you, my warrior-angel, my Siha, to succeed in your destiny. To light your path through the coming darkness. To give you hope, when all seems lost.
I will await you across the sea.
Thane
Lilly Shepherd didn't like Thane that much at first. In fact, she herself disapproved of assassins.
That was until she learned of the real Thane Krios. He wasn't a heartless assassin, he was a loyal friend, a sensitive, caring man.
Prepared to give his life for the mission...And prepared to do anything for his son. And then they were something more than loyal friends, something closer, something more.
Saying goodbye to Thane was the most emotionally difficult moment of her life. Never before had she cared about someone so much and now he was gone from her life...
For Kia Leng there would be hell to pay...
Next Time, Some_Bloke discusses Steve Shepherd's emotional relationship with Tali.

RE: Lovers and Companions, POST!
I was watching a tv show last night called "My Strange Addiction", which is from the US where so many of the nut-jobs seem to come from. Usually it's about women who are addicted to eating sticky tape or mothballs or snorting bathroom talc; men tend to be a little under-represented in having strange addictions (at least, admitting to them). But one man last night was talking about how he has an intimate sexual relationship with his car. He's named his car "Chase". The car is male (though how you can tell is beyond me, Chase having no genitalia AT ALL). And this guy does everything with his car, kisses it, masturbates by rubbing himself against it, talking to it, etc. etc.
My family were talking afterwards about the show, and an ad came on, a car insurance ad that shows a man bidding a tearful farewell to "J.J." while the wife and kids look on sympathetically. (The daughter not so sympathetically, she's wearing a bored expression and listening to music.) It turns out that J.J. was not only a great friend, "he" was also a great car. Coming right after the strange addictions and Chase was interesting. My daughter had a theory that there seems to be a gender divide here: men tend to have a sort of objectophilia more than women, but that women tend to consume odd things more than men.
Anybody else got any examples of this?
Alison

Alison
Its called objectum sexuality
Here are some examples
•Erika La Tour Eiffel: As you might be able to guess from her new last name, this former US Air Force soldier wedded the Eiffel Tower—at a ceremony attended by friends—in 2007. Previous relationships include an archery bow named Lance, and a sword.
•Eija-Riitta Eklöf Berliner-Mauer: She gave the phenomenon of falling in love with inanimate objects a name: Objectum Sexual. Her spouse? The Berlin Wall.
•Miss Wolfe: This Pennsylvania woman says she’s attracted, “sexually and mentally,” to a roller coaster called 1001 Nachts that she’s ridden more than 3,000 times. She even carries around—wait for it—spare nuts and bolts from the ride.
Which just goes to show
There's nowt so queer as folk.
‘Just off the coast of Autonomy, across the Bay of Good Intentions, lies the fog shrouded Isle of Best Interests’.

I'm still single Am I not allowed on this thread?
Hey. I'm a single man too. I still post on this thread. Even if it's talking about other people's relationships and those people are fictional characters.
