I think that most of my aversion to the word "comorbid" in both medicine and psychology goes back to my long-ago studying and teaching of Latin. Morbid means related to death and dying. And while SOME groups of body illnesses ARE life-threatening, others aren't. I have a bunch of physical illnesses, and because they are not deadly, I wouldn't want them called comorbids. And the same holds true for the depression, anxiety, and PTSD that I have in addition to Asperger's. It's true, I suppose, in my case, that I am often suicidal, so maybe comorbid would be accurate for ME, after all. But I don't think that it is valid for MOST Aspies.
