Got knocked back for life insurance...

Any ideas why I would get knocked back on life insurance.
I quoted Asperger's Syndrome to the salesperson and he said it's a mental illness and we cannot take you. o_O?

I'm beginning to think I wish that the psychiatrist was wrong because I was really popular at school and so on, but I chose not to interact with most people. The popularity came with helping people with their assignments and so on and then forcing me to join them playing games.

So I got rejected but then he said I could be covered for accidental death...
So that means I can't die naturally and get paid out. Well, if then I should get accident cover that is cheaper then???

The whole concept of life insurance is beginning to get on my nerves, and to think I was going to work for them as part of my career in risk management.
I guess that came with being obsessed with numbers, but now I'm just frustrated.
I know if I don't disclose it, then it won't payout, unless they go to court and so on. yada yada.
I don't plan to die yet. lol, but you never know. I could die naturally soon.

Possible but not probable.

Also, I was misdiagnosed with schizophrenia at one point which from what I gather is too common. I decided not to disclose that, but I still got knocked back. ARGH!

Insurance is just a scam to drain money from our pockets for the few at the top of the pyramid.  It takes money away from the health system it is supposed to be supporting.

Asperger's is a pre existing condition. They deny lot of people, even overweight people because they don't want to pay for their medical stuff if they have a heart stroke or whatever because of their obesity.

Our daughter is in a similar situation.  She had a stroke before birth and cannot get life insurance.

In the long term you get a better return on your money if you can invest in some sort of savings plan , rather than purchasing life insurance.

RE: Got knocked back for life insurance...

I used to watch Forensic Files and Cold Case Files (among other murder-type programs) on Court TV (Tru TV is such a stupid name for a channel) a lot, because it was very interesting to me. A lot of the episodes I saw involved some kind of life insurance policy. I guess life insurance is good for one thing: Killing someone else for some damn cold blooded money! That is what makes me paranoid about life insurance.

We've got life insurance.  It was before I knew I was an Aspie, and once I found out I just never bothered to tell them.  If they've been happily taking my money for so long, the aspieness can't be an issue.  If you really want cover, I'd just not tell the insurance people about it: I mean, you can't die from being Aspie, if anything it tends to make us more cautious.  I'd think we're a pretty good risk.

Why do you think we are a pretty good risk? Sad

Because we don't tend to involve ourselves in the types of risk-taking activities that NTs enjoy: driving/speeding while under the influence of alcohol or drugs (driving seems to be one of the things we tend to have some trouble with, to a greater or lesser extent and I know many of us just don't drive, or else limit it as far as possible).  Going out drinking and taking drugs at rave parties, sports events or getting into fights.  Having lots of unprotected sex with multiple partners.  Dangerous sports such as skydiving, deep diving while holding breath as long as possible, base jumping, etc.

So yeah, I'd think we were a pretty good risk, since we don't take so many risks. Smile

I thought you meant that we were at risk for something. Oh well... Tongue I guess that makes sense. All of that dangerous crap doesn't sound much fun to me, anyways.

There are far too many "animals" (as in people who act like animals) in this world and not enough... well... humans. But that's a rant for another day.

I agree with you; and there's another way we'd be a good risk (or perhaps "bet" would be a more appropriate word) for insurance companies, in that we don't tend to follow the group mind.  We tend to stay away from big groups and prefer solitude a lot of the time, so if there's a crush at a stadium or a stampede of people to get away from something dangerous, we're usually sitting at home absorbed in our own interests.
