Reading last year's material

This rocks - even though my course hasn't started yet, I can start reading up on last year's material and revising from it.

OU has a piece of software called "First Class" (which also happens to have a native linux version - yay!), and there are multiple forums and mailing lists, some of which contain notes from the course. So i'm reading all the notes for 2009.

RE: Reading last year's material

Seems to be a good point to start from.

I ususally see it a s a good sign if I want to (re-)read "old" material because it shows (to me) that I'm really interested in the subject.

A lot of this material i'm already familiar with even though i've never studied it academically. I've actually laughed out loud at a few parts when reading about some obscure aspect of human cognition which i've actually written code to implement in software.

Are you going to join your local OUSA branch?

As the player's breath warms the fipple the tone clears.
It is time to consider how Domenico Scarlatti
condensed so much music into so few bars
with never a crabbed turn or congested cadence,
never a boast or a see-here; and stars and lakes
echo him and the copse drums out his measure,
snow peaks are lifted up in moonlight and twilight
and the sun rises on an acknowledged land.

hey Gareth - a quick tip - dont express your own opinion in any of your essays - only the opinions of the textbooks and your tutors - they dont like being told they are talking through their butts - save that for your PhD

I did a lot of courses with the OU. If yours has exams, get all the past papers.
