Post something positive about yourself.

Alright, +TheQuietOne, this one is dedicated to you for having the idea. Smile

To that *** weasel troll on Youtube: I don't care who insults me and tells me to stop wasting time making videos and get psychiatric help! I'll make as many videos as I damn well please. To those people that call my videos kvetching and nothing more and say it's whining and they just want me to go away... then YOU go away and DON'T LOOK AT MY STUFF!! I don't go around judging people. I try to help them or console them or I just find it amusing in a good way, or see if I can learn anything from them.

Genocide is defined as "any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial, social, political, economic, intellectual, familial, genetic, or religious group, as such: killing members of the group; causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group; deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part; imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group; [and] forcibly transferring children of the group to another group."

Actually, that's a lie - no, I'm not.

RE: Post something positive about yourself.

YAY! A positive thread!

After over fifty years of not knowing why I've never fit in, I get an official diagnosis that explains everything.  Ever since, I've felt that an enormous, smothering wet blanket has been lifted from my life.  I no longer feel that I must force myself to conform to popular images, and I can feel good about myself for enjoying science-fiction, AD&D, and technology in general instead of sports, drinking and carousing.

I can finally be me and feel good about it!

RE: Post something positive about yourself.

I made a pact with myself, my loved ones and God never to lie again, which includes nonverbal deception.

I do not want to spend my life collecting possessions only to lose them.

I am fun when people aren't judging me for fun things I do. I'm even more fun, actually, when others are judging me. I can just like humiliate them and if they continue find a way to get them good so they'll leave me to be fun in peace!

I am starting to become attached to my son more and more, oddly. We're in different countries but for some reason, still!

Lol!  I always put too much water in so they're too runny.  Sometimes I put the water in, and then squeeze the carton to break up the noodles and half the blasted thing jumps out the carton and all over me. Sad

I'm good at eating jam doughnuts, though! Smile

I try and see the upside of everything.  I'm kind to most people, but in particular old ladies.  I find them fascinating.

(Thank you, Ana.  I'm glad I inspired the thread.)

I can finish Riven (an oldish computer game) in 20 minutes.

I am not ashamed of myself tho I do get embarrassed because people don't understand. But it's because of them, not me.

RE: Post something positive about yourself.

I discovered I was an Aspie, and that some of the amazing things I can do are "gifts".  I'm worryingly accurate with phone numbers, and can recite conversations and minute detail (who said what/where/what they were wearing/what we ate/the weather that day/etc.)  I had previously been a bit concerned about how accurate I can be, noticed first by my English teacher at school.

I was one of the two people in our class of 30 in 10th grade English class that saw both sides of the discussion. Another person elsewhere also told me what he liked about me was me seeing both sides.

That's quite a gift.

RE: Post something positive about yourself.

Thanks, TQO! A lot of the time I do fail to see all sides and other times I stay out of it and don't even TRY to think. Often when I see all sides I get bashed from all sides too. And I hate it when I validate points me and Stan tried to make that are different from each other, yet he refuses to validate mine and just validates his own. I try and say it's both of us, but he seems to want to believe it's only me and that he can do no wrong. But when my mother got like that he accused her of what I'm accusing him of in this post... made me feel better for some reason tho, partially because I'm thinking, like, "Maybe there is hope of his understanding what I mean."

I don't know your story, Ana, but I take it that Stan knows you're an Aspie.  Something my mum said to me last year a few days after I was diagnosed has stuck in my mind:  "Be careful of whom you tell you have AS.  Other people would rather dismiss you, your actions, and your AS, than look at their own behaviour as being at fault."

Your mum is a wise woman.  Not disclosing one's AS to employers, friends and family is the way to go, at least until one knows with absolute certainty that those people will embrace diversity and accept people with AS as human beings, and not as defective, mutated monsters.

Even then, it's never a sure thing.
