It seems that there were long lines!  Not when I voted, right enough, but they've been showing TV footage of people queueing to vote and in some places would-be voters were turned away because the polling stations couldn't process all those people in time. O.O

Wonder what the turnout was...

just wondering if anyone used the vote match tool to see which party they were most in tune with????  I did but strangely decided not to go with the answer they gave me............Lib dems fairness pledge got my votes in the end 8-P

They're now saying on the TV that there may be challenges to results as so many people were turned away from polling places, but in at least one place the polling place stayed open for an extra half hour to let people vote.

Polling places are open for 15 hours!  And anyone can now get a postal vote.  

I used to work at elections, and there was always a rush of people within the past half hour, sometimes within the last few minutes, of polling.  Looks like this year, a lot of people all had the same idea late in the day.

our polls are usually only open 12 hours from 7 A.M. to 7 P.M.

Polls were open from 7am to 10pm today. Turnout does seem to have been much higher than it has been in recent years.

I voted at 7am - literally as they just opened.  I could have saved them the trouble of doing a count of how many had voted:  Tonight was late night shopping in London's West End ... there wasn't a soul around.  UniQlo was nearly deserted ... I was half-expecting to be met by tumbleweed blowing through Marks & Spencer as I went to get my stripey socks - the lads on the tills said it'd been quiet all evening.  I reckon a lot of people must have voted tonight on the way home.

Can't say I'm going to stay up for the results - let the politicians worry alone for the next couple of hours - they deserve to after all those highly irregular expenses claims.  I'm not in favour of a hung parliament, but if that's what the nation's decided, then the politicians have got to take it on the chin and appreciate they brought this upon themselves through their dishonesty and greed.

Whatever happens, I don't see Gordon Brown hanging around for too long - what's the betting he retires from politics citing a need to spend more time with family!  I doubt Gillian Duffy's a name he'll ever forget - she even has a mention in Wikipedia - and that incident was only a week or so ago !  Rumour has it that she got paid somewhere in the 10's of £1,000 for her story.

What the hell is this all about? Vote for what?
