RE: Fnord's Poll on AS Behavior
Good poll.
7/10 for me.
Couldn't say that the feelings of others make no sense to me, it is more that I am very often oblivious to the feelings of others.
Also I am excessively calm even by NT standards, and I have executive dysfunction so sticking to a routine is largely impossible.

As much as I miss Fnord (well.... not really) I still can't understand his view on the world when it comes to "AS tendencies"

I don't see him pushing any view of AS tendencies, not in this thread anyway.
More about seeing how many of the stereotypes we fit. I can think of a few more that could be added - I guess we all could based on our own traits and experiences.

Yeah, I don't do routine. And I use a lot of sarcasm. I don't always catch the signals denoting sarcasm, but it's a very important part of my life. So much for literal.
Many things interest me, and I get most feelings.
Chris Christie is so fat, I was giving a presentation and he ate my pie charts.

Ideally there should be a statement such as "finds social situations bewildering". Thát's one that usually tends to give me grief. Without my husband to act as my social interpreter, I'm often all at sea amongst the NTs!

Totally agree.
Also "makes social faux pas without realising it".
Also "small talk doesn't come naturally".

"My habitual style of speaking utilizes a plethora of impressive words and is quite formal."
At times...I tend to use a strange combination of impressive words, and bad grammer.

Yes, but would you say I have a plethora?
(don't worry if you don't get the reference)

RE: Fnord's Poll on AS Behavior
When my son was 3 years old I used to get home from work and my wife would ask me about some impressive word he had used that day. Often in relation to a word he had used at pre school which his teachers didn't understand.
I bought him a stuffed toy dinosaur when he was 3. I made the mistake of referring to it as a brontosaurus. My son, of course, corrected me and told me it was a brachiosaurus, which is the right name for it (the original brontosaurus was actually a brachiosaurus with the wrong head on it).

RE: Fnord's Poll on AS Behavior
I'm on the half right side of responding also. I understand and can agree with all the questions as an aspect of situations I have encountered and been befuddled, but my interpretation would not be worded in the same manner as the poll questions. Not that I am disparaging the question format, just that I would say: Pets make better friends than people because blah blah blah. I know this isn't the gist of the poll, but I got anxious when reading the questions because my mind went to images of being misunderstood why I can agree with all the questions as accurate for me. I think that is a major problem for many of us, we can agree with a statement, but in our past experience, why people think we agree is totally off-base to our reasoning. Sorry to be so long-winded, became paranoid myself while reviewing each question.
Respectfully,
Mike Silva
