RE: University applications...
You don't have to visit all of them but don't accept anywhere you haven't visited.

RE: University applications...
I went to visit two universities this week. On Tuesday we went to one of them (Nottingham). It is such a wonderful place. We got taken around the areas of the campus that I would be frequenting. I met the head of the department and she outlined the course structure for the three years. Then we met with the disability supervisor who acknowledged that I would need some support in a couple of areas. I really feel that Nottingham was the correct place for me.
Compared to another university (Liverpool)...I didn't like that at all. Perhaps I had already made my decision and so I may be bias but I didn't like Liverpool. It reminded me too much of the environment I had at school...
It's a shame that I couldn't see the others but it is too far away from relatives. If I needed some support I couldn't have it.
I've accepted Nottingham as my first choice. So it is rather positive.

RE: University applications...
I really can't wait to go. I'm looking forward to it. Actually am looking forward to it.
I didn't really consider the fully implication of what going to university would actually mean when I made the decision to make applications and apply to the universities, until I was told by the Disability Supervisor at Nottingham that it was a rather big ''step''. As I haven't been to a proper school for a few years now, she did make it clear that it was going to be difficult but I did think that it was going to be difficult anyway due to going to university. However I was told that with the ''right support'' that it would help to make things easier.
I really love that university and I look forward to attending in the Autumn because I have had the reassurance that there is going to be support. I'm not going to be left so I'll just ''get on with it''...it's just reasuring. I am slighlty scared of going...but right now I feel quite positive.
Thank you for the support. I don't know what I would do without AFF.

Saft - I am so happy and pleased for you! You could have gone to 10 others and maybe not feel that positive vibe - and yet you did!
(and autumn is such a nice time of year!)

I don't think it is Niall, but mum and I've finally done it. It's taken a while but at least I have one parent who can see what is more important.
Anyway thank you for the offer to help. It is appreciated.

RE: University applications...
My positive news is that today the London Metropolitan University have made me an unconditional offer for the post-grad course I applied for. This is a part-time (evening) course so I can do it even if I do find a job.
The course will give me knowledge in areas of the industry that I lack, and will hopefully give me the edge in future job applications. At least, it will open me up to being able to apply for certain types of jobs that i can't do at the moment, which can only help.
I do have the money for this, and my own company will sponsor it.
