RE: Cats

My cats walk on the keyboard too. It must be a cat thing. Smile

I wonder if anybody can tell me if cats can smile? I told someone that they can and so can dogs but they said I was imagining it and that it's just the way their mouth sits. But I'm sure that cats can look smug when they're comfortably settled in a place that they like.

The cat deposit seems excessive. I know some landlords have had trouble with pet owners but it should just be a refundable deposit and that's all.

I think that they can & do, they certainly have smug expressions.
I wish that I could describe this properly, but one of our cats seems to be able to morph his face & when he does I nearly die laughingBig GrinBig GrinBig GrinBig GrinBig GrinBig GrinBig Grin

His ears are back but not flat, his whole face seems to elongate, particularly his nose & he appears to literally be looking down it.

I doubt that I would ever manage a photo though.Sad

This website demonstrating a new form of software might interest and amuse you cat lovers.  THe demo test is kind of fun.

Web services are often protected with a challenge that's supposed to be easy for people to solve, but difficult for computers. (They) are used for many purposes, such as to reduce email and blog spam and prevent brute-force attacks on web site passwords.

Today, the most... ask users to identify text that has been distorted..... Unfortunately, such challenges can be difficult and frustrating for people, yet are often easily solved by computers.

Asirra (Animal Species Image Recognition for Restricting Access) is a human interactive proof that asks users to identify photos of cats and dogs. It's powered by over three million photos from our unique partnership with Petfinder.com.

I guess it was fortunate my brother paid the original $400.  It was just before my 33rd birthday I adopted Chloe, and two months after mom died.

RE: Cats

Cat # 4 is almost 5 months, and has been living with her mum on a farm. Her sister, Florence, have been here since she was two months. She was a whirlwind to the adult cats but has become very well behaved from being with them and from some human lessons. Seem cats are as easy to train as humans. They're both mimicing the behavior of the adults. Why is it so hard for humans to do the same...

I had to bring up three orphaned at  5 days kits.....although there were other cats about, they never learned to meow, one doesn't talk at all & the other squeaks.SmileRolleyes

RE: Cats

I've also had some stray toms come to visit and some of them meow very strangely. The current one almost chirrups at times. None of my pet cats meow very loudly either.

I have a 'chirrup' cat & mercury is called squeaker , if you stroke her, she is silent, but the moment you stop, she squeaks for more.

Have any of you had one that 'chatters' when seeing a bird?

Yes, my cat used to do that while watching a nest of birds through the window. When a cat chatters, he’s showing excitement and/or frustration, especially if the prey is out of reach.

If you do a search on "chattering cat" at youtube, you'll find nearly 100 videos of cats doing it.

Having told you about Sapphire, I thought you might like this picture of my step-grandson having a cuddle with her.

Moa made great progress today, allowing us to stroke her and coming up to us voluntarily and rubbing up against us; PURRING LOUD...

RE: Cats

Yes, that's a very good sign when they start rubbing up against your leg and purring.
