How do I share this love?
Hi -
I'm the parent of a six year old Aspie. He likes to listen to some music, and shows signs of synethesia (I have this trait as well).
I have been a lifelong songwriter and multi instrumentalist, and have found great joy and satisfaction in writing, arranging, and recording music. (if one cares, one can listen to it here: http://www.littlepurplecircles.com/ )
I wish I could share this love with my son, but don't want to pressure him in any way. I notice that he appears to have naturally good sense of pitch and also a very good sense of timing and rhythm. I would love some perspective on this issue.
I want to add that there's nothing wrong with not being into it - it's just something I think he might be good at, especially the audio engineering aspects.

RE: How do I share this love?
I may not be in any position to say this....he needs to pick his own path. BUT I would (in your position) introduce him to music several times in his development. And I would also make sure that he has good sociability if he is to be a singer. Maybe you should bring him to your job, sometime?
I was told heaven had golden estates. I don't want a gold house... too tacky.

That's probably a good idea. I'm told children do as adults do, not as adults tell them to.
Every Aspie is a rockstar.
