[/font][font=Times New Roman] I "suffer" from Asperger's syndrome. I gave some thought into this "cure" thing, that is going on and it sounds like a COMPLETE PARADOX!! The very person who would even imagine or find this "cure" would HAVE to be on the autismic spectrum,.....like we are. Also, trying to cure a "disease" that gave you all the power to run your everyday lives (Benjamin Franklin) and the people who made YOUR life expectancy triple in length (TOO MANY PHYSICIANS TO COUNT), is by far the stupidest idea to ever come up. I, myself, wish to be an inventor, just as Thomas Edison was. The very reason is rather simple! I want to help you all acheive things that you could only DREAM of!! Neurotypical (normal) people need us. We are practically our own race! If this goes through, than humanity will go with it. I may be only 15...but I want my children to have my gift, ours as I should say. It may not seem like it at first, we are what advanced this world from darkness and stupidity. The very schools we all go to, the very houses we live in, and the very food you eat...our "race" made them. I am sure, no positive, that if we go, it is all over for mankind's future. I'm not being racial in any way, I'm just trying to show the bond between the autismic spectrum and the neurotypical. I will try to stop this "cure" at all costs. Just to sticky to the suject of this topic, I positivelly reject the slightest idea of an alleged "cure".

First of all, I simply can't admit why in the world and heavens a condition that causes increased intellectual skills and all the intrinsic benefits of this would be called a "disease". I mean, what...

Suddenly comes to my mind a brave new world (like that one envisioned by the english novelist Aldous Huxley) where all people are just plain average "middle-of-the-curve". I mean, no scientist, no inventors, no Genii, no weird guys who get out naked screaming "Eureka", and all these brilliant people we all learn in scientific college books.

Oh, and think of that people who like to make mockery of Aspies: all these marvelous ideas, revolutions and gadgets we all appreciate and use are just fruit of the exquisite minds of Aspergers, I have to say:

Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton, Benjamin Franklin, Abrahan Lincoln, Socrates (and several other philosophers) , Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Ludwig van Beethoven, Wolfgang Mozart, Charles Darwin, Stanley Kubrick, Bill Gates and 99% of the people who gave life to the Information Era.

Oh no, all those brilliant people actually had a disease? There is a reason why Aspergers exist, and it's simple: to help prevent mankind to turn over back to a Stone Age level of intelectual development.

Hm. A word like that...funny but rather destroyed. I feel that if this cure is made, everyone on this planet will slowly destroy themselves (as all the AS die out, there will be no one to fill their place).

Autistic people and people with asperger's are a mental evolution of humankind with (possibly) the highest natural intelligence there is. these kinds of people made things happen throughout history. I have friends with asperger's syndrome. Nobody with asperger's syndrome is alike. These people have astounding abilities![/color] [color=navy]

I have to disagree that the above statement is an absolute truism.

addendum: It smacks of Aspie eliteism,is not realistic thinking and disregards the fact that not all Autists are successful.

We do possess ideas that no other kind of person can fathem. BUT the problem is that some people with this gift aren't doing things that are great, like Autism was invented by God (or whomever) to make ALL of our lives (NTs and Aspies) succeed. The only thing that caused issues is that people are not seeing the beautiful bond we have with NTs. We use NTs to do what we want to do and they use us to enhance their lives. And by us helping them, we help the future Aspies enhance the science even more. Thank you for posting skyblue1 and scandy007!

Please. Age is but a number. If we live in the same word, must we not show our opinions? NTs and Aspies were made by God. It is just that I am trying to say is that we have our own role....we are not the same. Judging by your lack of caring for one my age, tells me you are an adult. Sorry! Am I right?
