What did you all give for Christmas?
Two threads so far about what people have received, so I thought I should redress the balance. Here's what I gave:
DVD of Dinner for One
The following CDs:
Sigur Ros, Ágætis Byrjun
Beethoven, Lieder und Gesänge performed by Ann Murray, Roderick Williams and Iain Burnside
Telemann, Brockes Passion performed by RIAS Kammerchor and Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin (dir René Jacobs)
Set of rösti rings
A butter dish
A mug
Neals Yard Remedies jasmine-themed gift set
Some choccy things from the Exeter Christmas market
Over to you...
As the player's breath warms the fipple the tone clears.
It is time to consider how Domenico Scarlatti
condensed so much music into so few bars
with never a crabbed turn or congested cadence,
never a boast or a see-here; and stars and lakes
echo him and the copse drums out his measure,
snow peaks are lifted up in moonlight and twilight
and the sun rises on an acknowledged land.

RE: What did you all give for Christmas?
Harry Potter DVD collection, a book, a DVD, ice skates and a ... one of those old oil lamps, dunno what they're called in English but my dad collects them. Most expensive were Harry Potter DVDs, the book and the DVD, in that order.

Lava lamp?
Or kerosene lamp?

Ah, yes, kerosene lamp. Wow, he'd love the one on the picture, he has nothing like it. He also collects anything with pigs, so a pig kerosene lamp would be awesome.

RE: What did you all give for Christmas?
My son (5) got a couple of Hot Wheels cars, a red remote-control porsche (the one thing he specifically requested), and some candy and chocolate and other odds and ends as stocking fillers.
My daughter (2) got a shopping basket full of pretend shopping items (fruit, cartons of milk, etc) and a plastic shopping trolley, a pretend make-up kit, and various stocking fillers.
The kids were super happy and I spent about $100 altogether, including the new DVD player I bought.
My son also lost his first tooth last night. The tooth fairy left him a lucky coin and also a little Hot Wheels sports car. He was so happy, he said "I hope another tooth falls out soon!".

Chili-flavoured chocolate ?
Yes! It was my contribution to the office Secret Santa, my only instruction having been to buy something silly.
