What would you go back and do differently?
MNZ started it, she sad she would go back and delete parts of her life.
So what would you delete, change, or add?
I think I'd get married well in advance of today, knowing that women expect to be approached for a date.

I'd also never extend sociology into a major or grad school.

I would demand help for my language problems. I could not speak well as a child..still cant. Adults thought it was cute that I was shy. It was not "cute"..it was painful, I assumed shy was a nice way of saying I was stupid.
Having answers to questions and then just have them disappear when I would start to talk was and still is one of the hardest things I deal with every single day.

RE: What would you go back and do differently?
Unfortunately, I have to say that I wouldn't be so trusting. I guess, like a lot of Aspies, I've always felt the underdog, and I try to be sensible and help people who are in trouble, or need help that I know I can give. But I've been taken advantage of a few times - and a couple of times it's really cut me up. I hate that it's made me less trusting, as I always liked me the way I was. I don't like being suspicious, but I don't think there's any alternative.

RE: What would you go back and do differently?
What would I have done differently, if I could?
Age 5: Picked up that rock and smashed the face of that bully hard enough so that he never bothered me again. Taken up the piano.
Age 10: Gone to the cops about my father's abusive behavior.
Age 15: Gone to the cops about my brothers' drug dealings.
Age 20: Sat at a different table so that I would never have met my first wife. Invested in Microsoft.
Age 25: Gone to Toyota instead of General Motors with my idea for a gas-electric hybrid vehicle.
Age 30: Stayed out of the university's labor union.
Age 35: Moved to Ireland.
Age 40: Put my dad and brothers in rehab.
Age 45: Stopped 9/11.
Age 50: Turned down the nomination for church elder.
Age 55: ???

RE: What would you go back and do differently?
Age 15-17 Would like to have gone to the cops on behalf of some girl's parents but she didn't live in my county so that would have been awkward.
Wrote a nice piece of sci-fi time travel fiction* about us becoming her foster family though. My favorite scene was when we won the foster case, and her mom went off at my mom, my mom b!tch slapped hers.
* As an epilogue or sequel to my tenth grade.

RE: What would you go back and do differently?
Oh, in fiction I had an ultra-good-grades/mental activities HS girlfriend who wanted to become a doctor. (She wasn't and she didn't, but because it's fiction, I'd write she became one, and supported national health care for all.)

RE: What would you go back and do differently?
One does wonder why the US still doesn't have proper national health care for all. Anyway i have to go for the day as it is 7:25 am in time to catch the 8:05 train to the CBD and uni and checjh out some experiments I have been running over the course of several days and I hopefully get a result this time.
Rule 1. Never, ever, give up (mind blanks excepted)
Rule 2. Refer to rule 1.

One thing that I should of deleted was that I shoudn't of been a whimp a long time ago...
One thing I would add is that I would like to find people to hang out with even meet the right girl someday.
Theres so many possiblities... just don't know what would happen for them.

RE: What would you go back and do differently?
(first meeting by phone)
The phone rang.
"Hello, Marshes."
"Bring us back our daughter."
"Your daughter? What the hell have you and/or your husband done with her? The cat jumped on her bed, she screamed, then cried all night, I couldn't help her get any sleep, and the boys had to bring in a sick note for her. As far as I am concerned, she's forfeited."
"Give her back you *****"
"Yeah, and if I see your face around here I'll show you some." She hung up hard.

Why change anything. I look to the future and remember the past.

RE: What would you go back and do differently?
I wouldn't go back and change anything. What's happened to me and the choices I've made so far in life greatly contribute to who I am now.

Some Americans don't care what the civilized world thinks.

RE: What would you go back and do differently?
Slate magazine estimated national health care might cost someone making $400,000 a year $20,000 a year, might cost someone making a million dollars a year $90,000 a year.
America was working fine under Bush for rich people. If you have money, you can buy your own alternate system to meet your needs: health, education, justice and so on.
a. buy the best medical care in the world
b. buy the best education
c. buy the best legal advice and maybe the verdict in your favor
If you're a middle or lower class schmuck you need the system the Republicans don't care about.
Republicans. America by everybody for the rich. And plenty of tax cuts for them!!!!
If the system was fair first the rich would soil themselves. Then they would leave the country and take their money with them. Maybe they could hire some former U.S. Army and Air Force and some fighter planes to keep the pirates off their butts. You can't have your own little rich country without a kick butt military force.
