Too much chocolate
Can a person die from eating too much chocolate? Or is it drinking coffee?

RE: Too much chocolate
neither......a dog can die from eating choclate, but not humans. Coffee and chocolate are both beneficial in moderation. too much caffiene makes you nervous, too much chocolate makes you fatter.
I'm not anti-social; I'm just not user friendly

RE: Too much chocolate
I suppose if you eat or drink excessive amounts of anything you would die, or at least become seriously ill. By excessive I mean way, way beyond what you would even say was a lot.
Yes, chocolate is very bad for lots of animals.

RE: Too much chocolate
Chocolate by itself is impalatable (It tastes icky). Therefore, it must be mixed with other things to broaden its appeal. Things like milk (high in cholesterol), sugar (pure glucose - diabetics beware!), and nuts (people die from peanut allergies).
So, it is not so much the chocolate itself that could harm you, but the things it's mixed with.

RE: Too much chocolate
Chocolate is a stimulant, as is the sugar it's sweetened with. I have a very low tolerance for stimulants ever since I quit sucking down mountain dew like it was water ten years or so ago.
Here's a link for the various caffeine quantities in some things (including chocolate).
And though straight chocolate may be bitter, it's an interesting flavor - I wouldn't call it icky. Not like an uncured olive.

RE: Too much chocolate
I have atrial fibrillation. I have had to give up chocolate (indeed, all stimulants like caffeine) because, even in small quantities, it makes me ill. Too much could kill me.

RE: Too much chocolate
I just have high cholesterol and a stent in one of my cardiac arteries. The doc tells me to keep the caffeine down to two cups a day, but one of my favorite beverages is café mocha -- chocolate and coffee -- and I have to get by with sugar-free Swiss Miss and drip coffee.

RE: Too much chocolate
I can't be far off twenty cups of coffee a day either. I'm like my mother who admits that she "can't walk past the kettle without switching it on"! Lol!

Fun, being over fifty, isn't it?
