RE: I really don't like jobs.

I tried having a job when I was younger and failed miserably at it. i don't plan on having a job anytime soon. It might just not be for me.

MNZ, why not get married and raise a kid? Then you can say you're a housewife and you'd get away with it.

Raise a kid? Oh....no way!

RE: I really don't like jobs.

Well, if I can find ANOTHER on campus job (which I currently have and am succeeding at it) I'll be fine.

Have I lost my mind?! I wasn't thinking when I started this thread how lazy and unambitious I sound. This is really not the direction I want to take with my life. I would like a rewarding career someday.

Oh, by the way...I was being sarcastic about living on disability. I wouldn't qualify anyway because they will see that I am attending Uni.

So Patrice, are you self employed?

No job, live off scholarships.

I don't particularly like having to work to make a living. I'd much rather live on remittances from a trust fund, or some such arrangement.

("Fnord, you're an embarrassment to the family! I'll give you $10,000 each month for the rest of your life as long as you remain in Europe...")

RE: I really don't like jobs.

I am having a hard time looking for a job, yet MNZ don't give up on work just because theres people that think there better then you. Just do what you can on finding a decent job, thats all that matters is to keep your self-esteem at a moderate level. Don't bring it down with those rants that put yourself down. Just look for a job that your statisfed with.

RE: I really don't like jobs.

It might be hard getting a job out of school.
Your experiences do temper your personality.
You'll get the lines about your personality and their organization when you go interview.

Eventually some organization won't do bull****.
I've been there ten years. Now I make about $50,000 a year with benefits. Yes, we are concerned about the food supply (contracts, the company is starving, and once again by December if the company doesn't get fed it will be my problem again). Back in May an Air Force contract saved me from a layoff.

I've figured maybe FEMA might "fit my personality", so to speak. Just look at the trunk of my car..... the latest thing I bought is a 10,000 pound tow rope. It has tools, a fire extinguisher, first aid kit, tire compressor that runs off the battery........ a folding external bike rack*....   At home I have two weeks of Spaghetti Os and enough water bladders for 30 gallons of water (OK, I have to fill them), a crank flashlight/radio, plastic pre-cut to appropriate sizes to cover the windows using duct tape......

* many Washingtonians also never let the gas gauge fall below 3/4 tank. You don't want to run out of gas when you are trying to evacuate from a hurricane.

Yes, we get hurricanes. We had Gloria in 1985 and Isabel in 2003.

RE: I really don't like jobs.

I've been asked to consider a plan B in the Federal sector and been promised full support from HR to transition there if necessary. They want me to keep working hard even if it is someplace else.

Better take the offer while it is going. You never know when they decide to withdraw it. Good luck.

You remind me of Julie from college. She chose not to have kids either.
And she's still childless at 38.

Could be worse, you could be living off student loans.

RE: I really don't like jobs.

ALSO, why the hell would I want a job if I keep having beggars. I apparently gve off the impression that i have heaps of money lying around somewhere. therefore my family always asked to borrow money that i do not have.
