I'm having problems searching WP just now for some reason, but I did get the link to rdos's website/blog which has more info on the quiz and how and why he has modified it.

Your Aspie score: 182 of 200
Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 14 of 200
You are very likely an Aspie

I must be improving then with version 2

Previously with v1
Your Aspie score: 186 of 200
Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 11 of 200
You are very likely an Aspie

RE: Final, final version of the Aspie Quiz ... until the next one!

The first final version was run between mid-May 2008 and mid-September 2009. The modification process to replace Aspie activity with Aspie social, to eliminate the mixed group, and to select better questions for the groups was started on September 18th. There were then 3 experimental versions before final II that was released October 26th. Before final I there was 31 versions. Part of the motivation for updating the final version was also to close-down data-collection for final I that then had about 88,000 answers so the paper I worked on would report the final results, and not intermittent results that might change in the future.

That said, I do not think that this upgrade affects the main Aspie and neurotypical scores much, as factor congruence (and thus score weights) is very high between final I, the experimental versions and final II (it is about 0.99). It does affect the spider-diagram, for obvious reasons.

Added to this is that registered users have an average 7.0 standard deviation for Aspie score and 6.7 for neurotypical score. This difference is similar both within the final version, and between versions. So, a difference of 20 points is a little more than normal, but it is not exceptionally high. It is not expected that people would score identical. I have done every version myself, and I never get the same score. My own deviation easily covers 15 points (140-155 Aspie score, 35-50 NT score). It depends on the mood I am in and many other things.

I think that the spider-diagram has now reached its final composition with 6 groups on each side with identical names. This should mean that scores in the spider-diagram should more or less stay the same in future versions as well.

However, it would be foolish to claim that there will be no more changes. One change might involve the smiley-research project. If this is successful it could replace many of the coping-sensitive questions about communication and social problems in Aspie-quiz with a much more reliable (and fair) method of meassuring the same thing by letting people select interpretations for smileys.

How did I end up with such a shift in about a month?  Was I second-guessing myself a lot more last month and not so much this time?  Or possibly the opposite?

Since it seems like you are fairly new at this, the most logical explanation for the high increase in scores is probably that you answered positively on many more issues on the second run after you have thought about how you really functioned during the last month.

Another reason might be if you happened to do the quiz while I was upgrading it, but this seems less likely. If you indicated year of birth as 1981, I'm pretty sure you didn't do this.

That would indeed be my birth year.

I'm going to go with your first explanation.  I just hope I'm not "meta testing" too much.  Tongue

Interesting. I actually took it twice. Sort of breezed through it the first time, got 141 and wanted to redo it to reflect on the questions more to make sure I was not exaggerating. Surprised that my score actually went up. A lot of it is due to my having remembered some things from my childhood, though, since I was trying harder to think of concrete examples.

Hmmm ... something amiss here methinks, but anyway, as Solus said, it definitely makes you more interesting to talk to.

Welcome...
