You can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
But if you try
You sometimes find
You get what you need

"Days Are Numbers (The Traveler)"
Recorded by Alan Parson's Project
From the 1984 album, Culture Vulture
Songwriters: Alan Parson & Eric Woolfson
Chris Rainbow - Lead Vocals

The traveller is always leaving town.
He never has the time to turn around.
And if the road he's taken isn't leading anywhere,
He seems to be completely unaware.

The traveller is always leaving home.
The only kind of life he's ever known.
When every moment seems to be
A race against the time,
There's always one more mountain left to climb.

Days are numbers.
Watch the stars.
We can only see so far.
Someday, you'll know where you are.
Remember,
Days are numbers.
Count the stars.
We can only go so far.
One day, you'll know where you are.

The traveller awaits the morning tide.
He doesn't know what's on the other side.
But something deep inside of him
Keeps telling him to go;
He hasn't found a reason to say no.

The traveller is only passing through.
He cannot understand your point of view.
Abandoning reality, unsure of what he'll find
The traveller in me is close behind!

Days are numbers.
Watch the stars.
We can only see so far.
Someday, you'll know where you are.
Remember,
Days are numbers.
Count the stars.
We can only go so far.
One day, you'll know where you are.

RE: Post a song that describes a part of your life perfectly.

In response to (me imagining) Stan singing Apologize to me, I imagine singing White Flag to him:

I know you think that I shouldn't still love you or tell you that.
but If I didn't say it well I'd still have felt it, where's the sense in that?
I promise I'm not trying to make your life harder
or return to where we were but

I will go down with this ship and I won't put my hands up and surrender.
there will be no white flag above my door, I'm in love and always will be.

I know I left too much mess and destruction to come back again.
and I cause nothing but trouble, I understand if you can't talk to me again.
and if you live by the rules of it's over
then I'm sure that that makes sense but

I will go down with this ship and put my hands up and surrender.
There will be no white flag above my door, I'm in love and always will be.

And when we meet, which I'm sure we will
all that was there, will be there still.
I'll let it pass, and hold my tongue
and you will think, that I've moved on...

I will go down with this ship and put my hands up and surrender
there will be no white flag above my door, I'm in love and always will be.

Genocide is defined as "any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial, social, political, economic, intellectual, familial, genetic, or religious group, as such: killing members of the group; causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group; deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part; imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group; [and] forcibly transferring children of the group to another group."

Paul Simon's music really speaks to me.

This is how I felt when I was younger.  I still feel this way some days.

Simple:  The opening lyrics to Paul McCartney & Wings hit "Live & Let Die" ....

"When you were young, and your heart was an open book"

... beautiful lyrics, which probably applies/applied to all of us ...

Chamuel, that's such a nice video; it made me sad but not depressed kind of sad; more the kind of sad you like to be rather than be emotionless.

I dedicate The Logical Song to all the people trapped at the Judge Rotenberg Center. I can imagine them singing this.

When I was young, it seemed that life was so wonderful,
A miracle, oh it was beautiful, magical.
And all the birds in the trees, well theyd be singing so happily,
Joyfully, playfully watching me.
But then they send me away to teach me how to be sensible,
Logical, responsible, practical.
And they showed me a world where I could be so dependable,
Clinical, intellectual, cynical.

There are times when all the worlds asleep,
The questions run too deep
For such a simple man.
Wont you please, please tell me what weve learned
I know it sounds absurd
But please tell me who I am.

Now watch what you say or theyll be calling you a radical,
Liberal, fanatical, criminal.
Wont you sign up your name, wed like to feel youre
Acceptable, respecable, presentable, a vegtable!

At night, when all the worlds asleep,
The questions run so deep
For such a simple man.
Wont you please, please tell me what weve learned
I know it sounds absurd
But please tell me who I am.
