RE: Banned from Wrong Planet?
They ban people who either won't join them in their bullying fun, or people who don't understand that a lack of empathy simply is a part of Asperger's Syndrome, and that their bullying behavior should go unchecked because they can't help it.
That site is helping nobody with Autism or Asperger's Syndrome, as long as they promote that it's better to be cruel to others, then to learn how to be kind.

RE: Banned from Wrong Planet?
IP bans don't help, users can reconnect and blocking a whole internet provider will keep innocent people out: like many people in the UK will either be with BT or Tiscali.
Even then there are proxy servers one can use. I was able to use amazon UK from Denmark by using a proxy address that routed me via the UK.

Personally, I think that I am on the right planet. Earth is the place for me. So, my philosophy is a little different than theirs. However, I am sure that there are good people there like anywhere.

RE: Banned from Wrong Planet?
The odd thing about the modern-day English language is how it takes originally non-sexual words (like fetish, molest, and harass) and corrupts their meanings and connotations into something exclusively sex-related. Anyone else ever notice this strange linguistic phenomenon? If one were to look up these three italicized words in a dictionary published prior to 1985 or so, there probably wouldn't be any mention of sexuality.
Is "harass" purely sexual now? I thought it only was if you specify "sexual harassment," and that any pestering of somebody until they want to blow their brains out was considered harassment, whether or not it was sexual at all.
You usually don't need to specify "sexual fetish" or "sexual molestation." Those always are unless it's like Old English, in which case they use molest all the time to mean other stuff.
They ban people who either won't join them in their bullying fun, or people who don't understand that a lack of empathy simply is a part of Asperger's Syndrome, and that their bullying behavior should go unchecked because they can't help it.
That is exactly why I'm here. I haven't been banned from WP, but I have gotten completely sick of the way they let people get away with bullying and then acting like anybody who is bothered by the bullying is just being intolerant.

I never got banned either. I left voluntarily because they banned my friend for expressing his religious views.
I could easily get banned (and have a little fun in the process), but I don't wish to stoop to their level.
I have left the forum. I can be reached on the JREF forum at http://www.randi.org.

RE: Banned from Wrong Planet?
Hi!
The following activities are unacceptable on WrongPlanet:
1. Posting offensive language, comments, video, or images.
Unacceptable content includes swearing; racist, sexist, homophobic language; behavior intended to provoke or belittle other members; violent or sexually demeaning content; sexual fetish; and discussion of excretory function. Posting graphic images or videos of people or animals being harmed is prohibited.
(bolding mine)
So, yeah, it was probably your name. WrongPlanet has a history of banning people and not telling them why.
You are most welcome here.
That is what I dislike about WP, I send emails asking why I was banned, and they never respond.

Contrary to the rhetoric that seems to predominate on Wrong Planet, from the limited time I was there, I believe that I live on the Right Planet.

All the best.

I don't think everyone there has Asperger's Syndrome, or that they were told they had it, when they had something more along the lines of a behavioral disorder.
It's easier to tell a parent your child has x condition, rather than your child is a sick bully.

RE: Banned from Wrong Planet?
I was just banned in under ten posts. Not sure why, but I'm guessing it was because I implied that I was so far "over the edge" that another poster's comments were "fueling" me closer to suicide. (I never explicitly stated this, mind you.) Pretty funny, considering about one in five topics there is a person claiming they're considering suicide.
So what does WrongPlanet do to a person admitting they are so far over the edge that an anonymous internet stranger is driving them closer to suicide? Ban, ban, ban.
Wonderfully caring and compassionate folks there.

It's a policy you'll find on most forums; they don't want the legal nightmare. Gareth can explain better - though it is considered good ethics to recommend such a person to a support phoneline or similar, in practice most sites do not bother.

Actually, the policy usually is that anyone who suggests to someone that they commit suicide is banned.
forweg, I find your banning odd too since there have been a lot of people on WP who have threatened suicide and weren't banned. In fact, the members of WP will usually go out of their way to help someone who's feeling that bad. I know of one case where one of the members actually called the person's father to make sure they were okay (they were).
forweg, I hope you're feeling better now, and please post in the Support section of this forum if you need to talk. And please get help if you need it. *hug*
