What can minors do?
What can minors do to strengthen autistic rights, especially:
* When they have no friends and therefore have no support locally
* When their parents say they cannot hold a protest, correct misconceptions or stick posters
* When people won't listen to minors

RE: What can minors do?
Consider the following facts:
* Many Aussies just don't know what autism means.
* Many of them have the 'autism is a disease' view if they do know about it.
* Many autistics don't know they are autistic, because their parents hide it from them.
* When autistics are told, they refuse to believe it. (I used to refuse to believe it, but I now I know my true identity)
* My article in The Leader isn't getting much attention.
* They don't bother listening to some stupid kid that stims.
* Lots of people are obsessed with cricket / football there.

Right. They are too obessesed with cricket/football (in this case, cricket) so
they won't even listen if you stand infront of the screen, right?

RE: What can minors do?
Sadly, I really don't think minors can do much of anything, due to the way laws are set up in most civilised countries.
That's why there's NYRA. http://youthrights.org

RE: What can minors do?
I agree with you, really.
But you could wait till you're 18 (or 21 in some parts of the world.) or start a youth rights organisation.
Or start the AYRO.

RE: What can minors do?
I'm planning to write a series of articles for a newspaper about neurodiversity. That is something minors could do. I'm starting to feel useful now!

RE: What can minors do?
You are right, I suppose. In most civilised parts of the world, minors can express their opinion via a newspaper, but it's up to the paper itself to determine if the letter is printed or no.

RE: What can minors do?
I have the same problem but I also have another one.
I can't protest because no one apart from my family knows I have aspergers and people will just use it as another excuse to bully me.
I believe god made us in his image.
I also believe god is a monkey.

I've been there before, trust me on it.
Don't reveal it to them, just be supportive of the cause. Just because someone supports gay marriage, does it mean they're gay? I would think the same logic would apply.

RE: What can minors do?
A minor can use that turmoil to become stronger. I'm 15, I have those problems now. I will never think of suicidal acts, no matter how hard my life is turning out. My dream is just to strong to be broken. You know?
I was told heaven had golden estates. I don't want a gold house... too tacky.

RE: What can minors do?
I may put something in the school magazine.
"A red rose is not selfish because it wants to be a red rose. It would be horribly selfish if it wanted all the other flowers in the garden to be both red and roses."- Oscar Wilde

A little randomness hurts no-one.
