APD in Brazil
I am father of Gabriel, an autistic 11 y.o. Brazilian boy. I am Also moderator of the yahoogroup Autismo (Portuguese language) also known as "Virtual Community Autism in Brazil". I write two blogs: http://www.cantodeanjo.blogger.com.br and http://www.cronicaautista.blogger.com.br. The last one shows news on autism I can translate to Portuguese.
When I was collecting some news I found a letter on APD. So, I translated it and sent it to the Virtual Community "Autismo in Brasil".
A friend from there tell to the journalist Luiz Caversan of "Folha de Sao Paulo" newspaper, who has written an article on APD. I intend to translate it to English to send it to you.
You may see the article in Portuguese in http://www1.folha.uol.com.br/folha/pensa...u195.shtml
Its title could be "Vive la difference" (in French, of course), but I realize it is more expressive on that idiom.

RE: APD in Brazil
What annoys me about that portuguese text -- yes, I'm a brazilian -- is how APD is described as something initiated by "parents and friends" of autistics, as if autistics never initiated anything themselves. It's pure victimization.
