RE: ASPIE 40 point checklist.

Welcome to AFF Big Grin
Stimming definition.

I always took the "Set up by peers" to mean being made to look a fool but I may be wrong.

When I am an old woman, I shall wear purple with a red hat that doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves and satin candles, and say we've no money for butter.I shall sit down on the pavement when I am tired and gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells and run my stick along the public railings and make up for the sobriety of my youth.I shall go out in my slippers in the rain and pick the flowers in other people's gardens. And learn to spit...

RE: ASPIE 40 point checklist.

ASPIE 40 point checklist.

1. Shy around people
if they aren't familiars + 0.5
2. Prefer own company
persons I feel comfortable with + 0.5
3. Have a strong obsession[s]
a characteristic of my bipolar disorder + 0.5
4. Interpret spoken language literally.
with this I am able to logically decipher figures of speech + 0.5
5. Stim.
I avoid stimming in public to avoid embarrassment "inappropriate" and with rocking, I try to be discreet
6. Hypo sensitive to pain
when I am consciously 'nulling' the sensation of pain or anticipating it + 1
7. Hyper sensitive to pain.
when being harshly inflicted by another or contact against will + 1
8. Childish interests.
e.g.: I enjoy collecting items from toy vending machines +1
9. Tangential thinking.
often leads to tangentive speaking or musical phrasing (while zoning out on guitar)
10 Black or white thinking
this was much worse when I was a child; I am now better equipped + 1
11 Catastophising
only in my worst times, usually through a depressive episode +1
12 Inappropriate emotions. + 0
this one would only be identifiable if having been told by somebody
13 Cannot understand jokes - 0.5
more often (neuro)people cannot understand MY sense of humor
14 Set up by peers.
I have been taken advantage of for lending money; over-trusting + 0
15 Upset by crowds
It depends on which function this would involve and with whom + 0
16. Weird laugh
Don't we all laugh in a weird way, opinion wise? I tend to overdo it. It feels good to laugh. + 1
17. Monotone speech
My understanding of music (melodic/rhythym) must have improved this + 0
18. Face doesn't show emotion
I have been told this is an "affective thing." I prefer "calm & collected" + 1
19 Cannot read body language
I cannot perceive body language in the 'typical' way. +1
20 Cannot understand voice inflextion
I can comprehend inflection, but couldn't understand it as a child Wink + 0
21 Cannot understand point of small talk
Have come to find it to be quite useful in grocery lines + 0
22 Cannot understand society unwritten rules
Rather can not understand the stupidity of many ""norms"" + 1
23 Bullied at school
All children who make "weird" noises and wear the same three outfits do + 1
24 Bullied at work
I have never held a job for long, but I had it easy anyways. + 0
25 Lack of friends of same age
26 Friends much older or younger
27 Unusual sex drive
No comment.
28 Unusual morals in relation to peers
I am unsure what this is in regards to. + 0
29 Collections
For this is simple; little "trinkets" I find while on walks + 0.5
30 Unusual gait
I walk in public with marching technique (straight walk, rigid posture) +1
31 Computer like memory (I prefer this to the psychological term)
My ability to recollect information over memories is an advantage +1
32 Sensitivity to temperature
Prefer stable/cooler temperatures, dislike sweating very much + 0.5
33  Unexplained memory lapses (time)
Our interpretation of memories play a defining role of how we "see" them.
34  Poor short term memory
I suppose that my attention span is what modulates this.

35 Hopeless with maps
I have gotten better with 'navigating' through streets and complexes
36 Poor concentration

37 Varaiable (both extremes) exam results
38 Inflexible
Last minute changes are my worst nightmare.

39 Like routine
this would be the only way I can get things done, if not to begin
40 Like helping others (best for last)
As hard as this is, it's what I live for. I would like to become a therapist for youth of autism in Positive Psychology -- the BEST psychology.

20 or more you are probably an aspie

I'd rather let all the people who see me determine who I am to them.
No matter how many points I've accumulated, no matter how many quizzes would make me believe I am so... I am an Aspie at heart and for autism and the neurodiverse balance of life and the social world we live in. I love you all. Have a wonderful day!
