Boycott McDonalds on behalf of the Aspie in Berkeley CA?
I can just hear my weight loss doctor cheering.
But there was an Aspie woman who got the heave ho after 21 years on the job at a McDonalds in Berkeley California along with other staff when a new manager stepped in. Now probably MANager was thinking, we gotta get some cheap teenagers in here..... but an Aspie was terminated along with some others (laid off) without cause here.
Maybe she and they might get their jobs back if there was a boycott or a letter writing campaign against
a. the franchise in Berkeley or
b. the national office
Maybe we also need an thepetitionsite.com petition like we did for Mrs. Portillo and Alex Barton.
Ideas?

Come on -- it's BERKELEY! How hard is it going to be to get some good protesting going?
There's only one MacDonald's in berkeley, so here's their location and phone number:
MacDonald's
1998 Shattuck Ave
Berkeley, CA 94704
(510) 843-1500

It's a rough joint, too. Anybody willing to put up with the place for 21 years deserves their job - and a medal.

California is like another planet to me Max. Curiously, have you been to my planet, DC/Virginia?

RE: Boycott McDonalds on behalf of the Aspie in Berkeley CA?
My msg
Audie Murphy was a WW2 soldier who had to fight to enlist in the Army (infantry), and became famous for courage in battle and as a movie star. I got a college degree in sociology. Nothing happening. Shortly before I got my Master's I found out I was Asperger. The number crunching research career didn't happen outside the university. Finally with the student loan and some medical bills (testicular cancer, predictably, no health insurance), the state of Maryland had had enough, Master's or not, I was getting computer programming training on equal terms with the high school grads. I've been working nine years now in career B, I don't mind, it pays the bills. People with Asperger fight their way into jobs and it is often easy to lose them. This owner had three disabled workers and fired all three, but kept some of the "normal" ones, he was ignorant and greedy and I hope he pay$ for it.

I haven't even eaten at a McDonald's in about five years, and I don't plan on starting again, so I guess by default I'm onboard with the boycott.

It's kinda big, but resistant to franchises like McDonalds.

I've gone to visit twice for a week each. Egad, the trip takes hours.
Dulles to McCarran (Las Vegas), closest to Death Valley.
Reagan National to LAX

My aunt won't visit her brothers in California. What is she afraid of?
1. earthquakes (Charleston Heston movie?)
2. wild fires
3. mud slides
4. riots
5. tsunamis

I don't think of DC and Virginia as being the same place. I've been to DC many times and really like it and considered moving there at one point (Takoma Park, actually.)
I would not set foot in Virginia for money.

RE: Boycott McDonalds on behalf of the Aspie in Berkeley CA?
I believe Mom and Dad lived in Takoma Park before I was born.
California has a good technology base and that attracts many Aspies (the Geek Syndrome, Wired). It seems to be reflected in the number of children with Asperger and autism nowadays amongst Silicon Valley residents- special education is a booming business.
Silicon Valley: industry has ---> jobs ---> attract ---> Aspies ---> who marry each other (assortive mating) ---> have ---> kids ---> who have ---> Asperger/autism ----> who need ---> special education
