Please give WFM my regards.  (We have the "Mars" thing in common)  As for my role in this whole debacle, I think that Illogical Conundrum should have been banned sooner, and much of this would have been avoided.  I still think that gang-ups are not a good form of social control, and lead to a decline in any culture, even if the motive might be one that is understandable.

The lady involved probably had some issues that could have been handled by moderators politely asking her to decline from forum membership.  A formal ban would have been avoided.  I think that she was herself manipulated by the other part involved.  However, I also see that I was not understanding of the fear that WFM experienced.  Personally, I was too blinded by the fact that I was glad that he was gone to see things from the perspective of WFM, which was a decided blindness on my part at the time.  I am deeply sorry for that.

As for the others, I wish them well on their new website.  I have no wish to join, but I do wish them well.  I think that we can cooperate on civil rights issues, and agree to part when it comes to having separate forums.  Give them my regards, and tell them I said good luck.

Who is Grumpy? Why is he banned? Was he liked? He seemed to post a bit and seemed to be well enough liked. Posts seem to be OK. Why was he banned?

There was a big argument about the merits or not of Alcholics Anonymous and the 12 Step programme and that's how it started.

If he starts arguments and upsets people and what have you then it is probably best he is not here too. He doesn't sound that supportive. TBH. I read a couple of his posts and he sounded OK but he obviously was being nasty too. Just seemed odd that such a long thread was started by someone that was banned. I did not understand why it was still here.

There was a woman back then causing a great deal of trouble and this added to the conflict about that place.

Posts and threads are not automatically deleted after banning.

Steady, Flardox...I don't think Interloper realises this board is not intended as a support board.

Interloper, we do not remove the threads and posts of a banned person, unless there is a complaint against that thread or post in particular, and even then subject to circumstance. Ross was, and is, a good friend of mine, but he got involved in a fight with one of the owners of the site and was banned - as was I, believe it or not, almost exactly a year and a month ago. Now look, I'm a modmin here - funny world, eh?

Ross didn't start fights, but he was good at spotting the undertone in a comment and thread and recognising when someone was being subtly spiteful - we had a couple of very nasty pieces of work here, the kind who you can never pin down as making an attack, but seems to have something...off... in a lot of their posts.

I want Ross back here, but it's not likely to happen. Actually, you'll find he has a great deal of support from the more... veteran members.
