Hi folks!

As those of you who have seen pictures will know, I have rather long hair (you can stop being jealous soon, WfM, promise! ).

As you may also know, I have a bit of a list of disabilities/disorders.

The upshot of this is that, for some time now, I have been finding it increasingly painful to care for my long hair and have decided that I really need it to be short.

This is where you wonderful people come in.

Rather than simply have a hair cut and have done with it, I would like to have it cut in public for Autistic Pride Day and raise some much-needed funds for Aspies For Freedom. AFF has been a wonderful resource for most of us; for me it has generated a virtual family where I can really be myself and has also given me some fantastic real-life friends.

For the moment, I will accept pledges on this thread or in PM if you would prefer to be anonymous. I promise never to publish the PMs and will delete them once I have notified everyone that the deed is done!

My Ninja son is flying out from the UK and will be here on Tuesday morning; I will be asking him to do the honours!

I promise to post lots of before/during/after photos! Unless someone pledges more money to stop me!

The actual donation/receipt of money will be done after APD when Gareth gets back, so pledges only for the time being!

I will be speaking to the lady in the wig department of the Cancer Council tomorrow morning! (AEST)

Further update:

3 AM wigs rang back; they only make wigs for film/theatre. But they do pay for hair, so if I am unable to get anywhere with the Cancer Council tomorrow morning, I shall send my hair to them and get them to make out a cheque in favour of the Cancer Council. Is that a fair compromise, Ethel?

Delightful... I'll give you the hundred bucks anyway for making the effort to look into the wigs!
