Similar to what people said above, AS rocks because of the intellectual gifts and uniqueness. As for me it's not only is there "left brained" intelligence, but much of the "right brained" skills too. Peace

I wouldn't consider the average NT to be dumb, but most of them are certainly ignorant of autism and its many facets. Autism after all, is a huge spectrum. You can't expect people to understand it always.

Yes! That's it! That's the most rockin' part for me. I told someone the other day that I haven't ever been bored, that I can remember. Since I can remember, I've always had a story going in my head. At the dentist, at the doctor's office, on a bus or a train, or with a fox or in the rain... sorry, the Dr. Suess in me coming out. But seriously, I love that because I have this, and because I spent a lot of time alone as a kid, I don't ever need someone else to entertain me. When I wanted to see a movie, I went. I never needed a crowd. I wear and live and do what I like.

I would agree. My intelligence in most areas is average. I'm not some superbrain, and it bothers me that people want to be elitist based on IQ when we have very little choice about what we are born with.

I can appreciate someone more because they work harder, or take risks to make the world a better place, or because they live the way they want to and don't care what anyone thinks about it. Choices. But to consider yourself better because you were born with more "academic juice" as one teacher called it, is just... well. I won't say stupid.

.... i can go off on one whenever i like and my missus just says - he's gone off on one again - he'll be back in a while - my current 'one' is buddhism and this really rocks - i reckon Prince Siddhartha Guatama was an aspie - yay

I guess my lack of social skills make me safe from the group herd and the "cool or die" mentality and "gotta socialize ALL OF THE TIME" crap that so many people seem to have.

you know that most of my friends are neuro-typicals
yeah i know that there are some NT's who have opinions about autisim that are 100% wrong but that gives us no right to bagg out nt's
because if we were to do that we are just as bad as those few cruel souls. we should know better!
also the main reason that this relativly small proportion of NT have these compleatly warped opinions is because they dont know enough about autisim- its not alll their fault! And if we start being all "we aspies are supieror" we will get one hell of a *** reputation and then
more people will bagg us out.

also look i dont know you at all but there has probaly been at least one or two NT's who have helped you or been nice to you in your life.
just think about that

Because I can learn anything that interests me in a very short time

Because I don't have to have a shower everyday, change clothes everyday and i have no problems eating only white rice and cocoa milk for weeks (though it's poor for my nutrition, it's great for my economy!)

Because I'll always be a KID!!!

Because I don't have to identify with my gender

Because I have a broader self-achieved mentality than most NTs...
