Yes, but what's the use if you're never going to witness anything like this in your lifetime?  If there was some clandestine way to summon the UFOs or something, or maybe look around for someone who claims to be an abductee and see if you can arrange something, then that's the way to go.  But yes, I have always been interested in this topic--very interested.

RE: Alien Abductions

I'm interested in the subject but for socio-psychological reasons.

I very much doubt anyone's every been abducted.

Why would an extraterrestrial intelligence travel thousands of light-years to abduct John from Bristol?

John lost a couple of hours of his life and can’t remember where he was or what happened to him; but he has vague memories of being abducted outside the ‘Rose and Crown’ public house.

He woke up naked in the woods--with unexplained injuries and a pounding headache--they must have experimented on him--those alien fiends.

RE: Alien Abductions

I agree with Quickduck; most people who claim to have been abducted by aliens are either drunkards or drug addicts (the stories I hear most often are about groups of men who go on hunting/fishing trips and drink heavily, and then get "abducted"), and therefore should be looked at very skeptically. I do believe that extraterrestrial life exists in many places throughout the universe, but so far all the evidence of this life "visiting Earth" can be place under the pseudoscience, superstition, and scientific quackery category.

About five years back I got a Snapple bottle cap that said something to the effect of, "Why do the most intelligent aliens in the universe come to Earth to abduct the most unintelligent humans?". I think that sums it up pretty well.

I also think there’s a very high possibility that life exists elsewhere in the universe; but that the distance between the various stars and planets is so vast that interstellar travel would be nigh on impossible.

Mars on the other hand isn’t that far away--only 36 to 250 million miles (dependent on orbit). So its quite possible you could be here women from mars--had you an appropriate means of transport.

I just hope you haven’t come to conquer--you Martians do have a bit of a reputation--planet of war and all that.

Of course I have suitable transport, but if I tell you, I have to kill you.  Wink

RE: Alien Abductions

It's not likely that all so-called abductees are drug addicts or alcoholics.  It's more likely that another poorly understood psychological phenomenon could explain these things, some kind of obscure sleep disorder, something like that.

Still, I find the topic to be fascinating and not just from the vantage point of the crazy stories people like to invent, but because I've always had an interest in UFOs and the like.

RE: Alien Abductions

A lot of the experiences of so-called alien abductees are remarkably similar to those who in earlier centuries claimed to have been visited by ghosts or incubi. And scientists have managed to duplicate similar experiences in laboratory conditions by the use of electromagnetic waves to stimulate the brain's temporal lobes. (Temporal lobes have also been associated with spiritual visions.) And the feeling of paralysis that many people experience during "alien abductions" is very similar to that of REM sleep. So there is a very good chance that Batman55 is right.

RE: Alien Abductions

Or you could join a Spiritualist Church, funny how lots of them also have UFO contacts,
Funny as allready pointed out, the similarity between ghosts etc and dont forget all the reports of Fairy abductions and activities.
Funny also how they come all this way and then keep crashing, as if they want us to find them.

For those of us with a respect for the Bible, a lot of UFO activity also reflects the aims and desires of the Demons, namely, sexual obsessions with human women, the original demons forsook thier place as angels in heaven in order to have relations with women.
One thing about these abductions, the victims all seem to be sexualy molested, why?, surely it would be like us being obsessed with bestiality if Aliens where genuinely superior entities of flesh and bone.

Another aim of demons, is to stop us beliveing in God and Creation, the idea of UFOs give us the notion we wernt created by God, but seeded by some superior alien race.

Ive spoken with people who have had contact with UFOs, one guy who they took on boaerd and flew him around the sun, but get this, he had to leave his body behind!
IE its not really happening, its just images and thoughts that are being planted in your mind in order to decieve.

So, if you want contact with Spiritual entieties, which is what they probably are, why chose the evil ones?, why not try and make contact with the good ones?

Indeed - I once read a book that suggested it was due to something called "REM interference" (I think that was it). REM has already been mentioned by nyanchan - it involves dreaming (i.e. experiencing stimuli that aren't real) and paralysis from the neck down. The theory was that sometimes people wake up, but the brain still has the random firings of REM and the output blockade that causes paralysis - so for a few seconds you have the experience of seeing things and being paralysed. Then memory does the rest and turn it into an alien encounter.

Because IF there were such good spiritual entities, they would not be interested in a contact. Well, most of 'em. For example, we had some luck to have had an Enlightened person on earth (Buddha) who also had a 'mission' to teach. Ok, we had some luck to have had some people around Gautama who did not give up until he began to teach. There are other Enlightened people, but they keep rather to themselves. Why should they care? (Hey, all, look at me! I have overcome my ego! Yay!)

The evil spiritual entities -- IF there were some -- on the other hand would be just happy to make a contact and to get a piece of soul here and there. They were the ones who stand in the first line if somebody tries to make contact.

As for the UFOs and alien and such: there are no aliens. Probably we are quite alone on this rock in the universe. And IF there were 'others' it is as said above: too far away with those laws of physics we have in this universe (with the possiblity of existence == 1).

RE: Alien Abductions

Aliens are curious I think, that's all. Maybe they know or have heard they will eventually come here anyway to reincarnate, who knows?

They do come here eventually to reincarnate and start along the spiritual path. The Earth is the center of the universe, the center of many, many universes, I should say, from a spiritual standpoint. That's why space travel, while interesting, is not necessary as God will never allow the Earth to be destroyed.

If its resources really do run out it is nothing for Him to recreate another one in a split second identical to the original. The Hindus call this mahapralaya and it has happened in the past. The moon is a spent "Earth", btw.

Spare me the "Ellen is crazy" comments. I know what I'm talking about....Big Grin

I've had those "waking paralysis dreams" at times and they are certainly very scary but have never had the alien abduction dreams. There was a show on the discovery channel a few years ago that explained why some people thought they'd been abducted by aliens and it had something to do with altered states of consciousness during REM sleep.

They also showed how "false" and "repressed" memories were created.

It's easier to beg forgiveness than ask permission.
