Parents are trying to get their kid the best spot in the tree of life, competition, take no prisoners.  If Asperger has the smallest ill effect, and we can't deny it doesn't, you can't deny that Mommy isn't going to rest until it is gone, so her son can have the best branch on the tree of Life.

Did you put a positive spin on Asperger, say that it gives as well as takes away?

Asperger a la Marsh quite possibly is responsible for severe difficulties with developing marriage, at least decades of developmental delay, (1)(2)(3)(4), but it also seems responsible for certain intellectual brillance in male members of the family, too (5)(6)(7)(8).

1.  Oldest uncle, finally married at about 61.
2.  Other uncle, not yet married, age now 72.
3.  Brother, status unknown, age 35.
4.  Personal status, unmarried, age 38.
Anecdotally, an aunt also complained of a family curse during her divorce process, and Mom nearly separated from Dad: only a cancer diagnosis brought her back.

5. Retired mathematics teacher.  Seems to confirm thesis in Wired, the Geek Syndrome, that Asperger is carried on math and science genes.
