I don't know either. But I think a lot of it has to do with ignorance... if you don't know anyone with autism and only see this kind of crap- its easy to make choices based off of only what you know.

I don't think you can understand hate. I think you can only try be yourself to the people you know and make small changes that way. Some people just spout out whatever they think is right and don't bother to find out if it really is. I feel sorrier for them than I do us sometimes... meaning that I think its sadder to not know the truth and look like a ridiculous idiot than to be hated. Not that either option is actually okay.

Would a mod please break up the second link?

Don't let Fore Sam's comments bother you.  I believe the consensus here is that he is a loser and his words are garbage.

Some people hate what they feel threatened by or do not understand, so they seek to ostracise or destroy those who are different.

I think that it is in the nature of some humans just to hate ---full stop.

It is also in the nature of many Not to hate

Many people hate what they don't understand, so that can be almost anything from religion, to race, to cleverness.

I believe that there are more non haters than haters.

I suggest don't waste your time trying to get into these people's heads, because you can't.

Just be happy to be who you are.

People like Fore Sam hate "low-functioning" autism most of all.

This is because they subscribe to the view that autism takes a would-be normal child away from them and turns that child into a hopeless poop-smearing retard who will never learn how to love.  That view of autism was probably perpetuated largely by fund-raisers and quackery-sellers, and possibly just disablists as well (people who are prejudiced and/or discriminatory against disabled people).

Those who buy into that view of autism want autism to go away forever, whether by eugenic abortion or a "cure" that actually works.  And they blame whomever they can for "stealing their child from them" - Fore Sam is one of those folks who blames the government.

Fore Sam also happens to hate high and mid-functioning autistics and certain parents of low-functioning autistics who disagree with him, and he tries to expose any outspoken HFAs and MFAs he can as fake autistics if there's the slightest bit of doubt or confusion surrounding them.  Perhaps this is because if what they say is true, and many of these poo-smearing autistics become high-functioning on their own, then he will have made a mistake in how he approached his child.  And some people have a hard time admitting to making mistakes, especially in the parenting realm or other areas they're heavily identified with.

I see I'm still safe, I'm not on the list.

I think I do have a bit of a problem with the disablists (they don't have anything against me, they just want me in some facility, your tax dollars at work?).  

Also, things like a job a career or a relationship and/or kids do not take autism or Asperger away, much as some people would like to believe.  Even I have wanted most of those things, as if having them made me just like the blokes I graduated from college with.  But matching my bloke mates on those criteria does not take Asperger away.  It can't.  There is always some deficit of social situational awareness and nonverbal communication.

And another thing, a lot of my bloke mates have credit card debt, some with too much.  They can have that, I don't want any.

On my more cynical days, this what I see:

If you were to think of human experience and diversity as a scale from 1 to 100, most people are only comfortable with the range from 49 to 51. And they all think they are God's Perfect 50.

Everything that falls outside of that narrow, familiar band might as well be from some hostile planet in another galaxy. If you're a 52 you might as well be a 99. And all of mankind's Labels of Fear and Loathing await you -- sinner, freak, weirdo, deviate, sick, disabled, evil, etc. etc. etc.

Personally, anybody between 40 and 60 bores me to tears.

I think most people here know that I have at least three THREADS with my real name on it. Not just in the content - in the title!

And bluntly I don't feel honoured at all - if only because it attracted trouble from others who are enemies of mine from elsewhere and caused me considerable distress. I might not have minded otherwise.

I back Max's comments, because Fore Sam has a history of bigotry even outside ASD's. He's a homophobe, and a chauvenist. No wonder he didn't get himself a wife until he was the wrong side of 40! LMAO!
