Poster from Simon Baron-Cohen's clinic - Aeolienne - 05-10-2007 10:58 PM How can I recognise AS in myself or someone I know? http://www.autismresearchcentre.com/clinical/docs/CLASSPoster.pdf From the Cambridge Lifespan Asperger Syndrome Service RE: Poster from Simon Baron-Cohen's clinic - Ando - 05-10-2007 11:01 PM I don't agree with this poster. I think that presents an oversimplified stereotype of AS/Autism, and I believe that we all agree that all the things listed are generalized and really do not deal with the core values of AS. If you all know what I mean (maybe you do, maybe not). RE: Poster from Simon Baron-Cohen's clinic - energeia - 05-12-2007 04:34 AM 8/10 for me used to be 9/10. RE: Poster from Simon Baron-Cohen's clinic - Sophist - 05-23-2007 02:27 AM Yes, far too oversimplified. Especially since there are auties, as above, who don't feel they fulfill all 10 but are still autistic. RE: Poster from Simon Baron-Cohen's clinic - alexmagnus - 05-23-2007 02:41 AM 9,5/10 hehe. The "unintentional rudeness" is mostly plain silence. RE: Poster from Simon Baron-Cohen's clinic - Ursula - 05-23-2007 04:46 AM I think the over simplification is intended. It's not a comprehensive diagnostic, it's an attention getter so people can be aware. There is also a famous 10 question 'diagnostic' for alcoholism, too, with a notice of where you can get more information. It gets the information out there. humm. . .One in 300 seems awful high. . but - there it is! Ursula RE: Poster from Simon Baron-Cohen's clinic - Anna - 05-23-2007 10:35 AM Well, isn't the estimate for ASCs in general something like 1 in 110? So maybe 1 in 300 for AS isn't that high after all... |
