Does anybody else like David Lynch movies?
He seems like he might be aspergian to me, especially with those cool hand movements when he explains things. Apparently he had the same meal, milkshake and loads of coffee with sugar lunch at the same diner every day for seven years...also the way he gets hooked on ideas. Even if he isn't Blue Velvet and Mulholland Drive are two of my new favourite movies and I can't wait to see others.
Has anybody seen Inland Empire? Worth seeing while it's still in cinemas?

One way to analyse Mr. Lynch's probable connection to the spectrum is to watch those Twin Peaks episodes were he pops up in person "playing" a FBI Special Agent in Charge, or something in that general area.

Lynch's work = MAJOR special interest of mine for 15+ years.....
Especially "Twin Peaks", which was such a special interest for me at age 11-13 that it actually made my mother and a counselor worried about my mental health....that show was my introduction to the world of serious, quality horror/fantasy (a world where once I got started I've never stopped, but I think I've mentioned that roughly a zillion times here already :p)"The Elephant Man" and "The Straight Story" also come immediately to mind.
Just from reading interviews, I figured Lynch was Aspie (long before I figured out I was). The guy seems to have practically every sign. So do many of his characters - i.e. both Alvin and his daughter in "The Straight Story". In "Twin Peaks" it would be harder to find characters who AREN'T Aspie....

I've only seen "Dune." It looked cool but it was poorly made due to it's complex narrative.

Funny, I was wondering that just today while out on my lunch break... If David Lynch is an Aspie. If it wasn't for him and Twin Peaks, I wouldn't have this username.
I've got FWWM and season 1 of Twin Peaks on DVD. Anyone know the status of season 2, if it is or will be on DVD? I once saw the ads for his movies on Amazon, and they looked interesting so eventually I'll get around to seeing them.

It's a long time since I saw Eraserhead; that's a weird movie... I'm getting lost in thoughts sort of revisiting the movies and watching them in my head or something; there's absolutely something off side about the way his characters are speaking/acting that is so aspie that it escapes you; so easy to miss... Almost all his movies are 'one of a kind'. Still they have that unmistaken mark that identifies it as a David Lynch. I've seen interviews and stuff with/about him since the early 90ies. I think he is very exact in his direction/production and that comes out through the actors he works with, I mean, Harry Dean Stanton, Kyle McLachlan... He paints with the camera...

I like David Lynch movies, but has anyone here seen "Mozart and the Whale"? It is a semi-documentary about an Aspie I met once. He married a person with mental problems. I was very disappointed in the movie because I did not think it represents Aspergers at all. The movie in available on Netflix.

Well, there's a lot of people who go their whole life without knowing that there is such a label for what makes them "feel different"... Because adulthood would have you feel you're the same as everyone else, or at least supposed to be, therefore "feeling different" just isn't something you can think about, anymore.
Perhaps he is one such case. He just puts his "peculiarity" down to having a genuine creative streak, and some natural quirkiness, etc.
I wonder if anyone has even suggested to Mr. Lynch that he might have AS. Apparently, Stanley Kubrick wondered throughout his life if he had Asperger's.

Seen Inland Empire some weeks ago, it is worth watching, though it is the kind of movie you have to watch through at least 10 times to figure out most of it. Plays around many themes. Lynch at his best.
And yes, I am also addicted to his works
An interesting thing which might relate to Lynch being an Aspie. The movie starts with a dreamlike sequence with people whose faces are blanked out. Could it be a reference to face-blindness?

I've only seen Dumbland, and it was alright. Not the best thing though.
Lynch does seem to have some neurological differences from the norm, but I don't think that he has AS. I think that he actually has Tourette's, if I recall correctly.

I finally got my hands on season 2 of Twin Peaks, so that answers the question about availability on DVD.
I just had to comment somewhere that I LMFAO at episode 13 where they have a little "coming home party" for Leo. It would probably look horribly evil to anyone who hadn't seen Leo's behavior in season 1. Talk about payback...

ALso, there is a scene on the street near the end, I won't spoil it, but it's one of the most amazing scenes i've ever seen. Glad to see so many other Lynch fans on here.

I saw "Lost Highway" several years ago. I don't remember anything about it except that I felt completely traumatized. I had to watch six hours of comedy just to feel close to normal again.

It's coming to DVD in mid-August. Why do I have to wait so damn long??
