Boycott Massachusetts! - Ana54 - 01-24-2010 10:12 PM

Unfortunately an old friend of mine from WP went back there after staying with us in Texas for a few months. There was nowhere else for him to go. But I pray that the taxes he pays (if he works or gets any income) will NOT go to the JRC, which is funded by taxpayers.

Do not move to Massachusetts.

Do not take any vacations to Massachusetts.

Do not take any field trips to Massachusetts.

Do not accept Massachusetts-based jobs or education.

Do not buy anything from Massachusetts or made in Massachusetts.

Do not pass through Massachusetts on your way somewhere else. Do not shop there or eat in any of their restaurants or go to any bars, clubs, theaters, etc. that are in that state.

RE: Boycott Massachusetts! - Duke_Nukem - 01-24-2010 10:31 PM

What is this "JRC"?

RE: Boycott Massachusetts! - skyblue1 - 01-24-2010 11:11 PM

that request might be a little tough for those that live in Mass.....................Smile

RE: Boycott Massachusetts! - Ana54 - 01-24-2010 11:13 PM

I know... I mean, it's not like I'm forcing them to move out, or even if they really, REALLY want/need something from or in Massachusetts.

Does this mean don't listen to the Bee Gees either?

I'm sorry but I had to make a crack like this.  The song "Massachusetts" often sticks in my head.

Massachusetts is a neighboring state for me.  I incidentally go there fairly often.  I have a step-aunt who lives there as well.

I rebuke the activities of the Judge Rotenberg Center.

RE: Boycott Massachusetts! - Ana54 - 01-25-2010 02:18 AM

You guys should take a drive up there and visit, and then tell us what you witnessed! My friend whome I haven't spoken to in almost 2 years, Beentheredonethat, visited and "saw everything", and he and his friends in the film industry are going to make a movie based on the JRC.

I went to Boston in 2006 and had fun at Teen Summit. I would sit here and let you bash Massachusetts, but I won't.

The Intel Computer Clubhouse was fonded in Boston, Massachusetts. They are wonderful people at that non-profit. They have Clubhouses all over the world and in most of the United States as well.

Sorry, but Massachusetts isn't that bad... I know Boston can be ugh and such... but man... I might as well rant about how I dislike New York and New Jersey (no offense New Yorkers and New Jersey peoples!).

I am sorry Ana, I had fun in Boston and wouldn't trade that happiness for anything in the world.

http://www.computerclubhouse.org/ <<< That is the link to the Non-Profit I ever so love.

Oh yeah, if anyone posts my real name on here, I will be ever so angry at you.

With that said, I hope I didn't make any new enemies on here. But meh... I am not going to let you bash the state that houses the Intel Computer Clubhouse. >_<;

Maybe I will talk about my trip, but that would get off the topic of this thread. I'll save it for when Ana bashes me. Mmm War. Wink

RE: Boycott Massachusetts! - Ana54 - 01-25-2010 10:14 AM

Listen, I already said that if something in Massachusetts means a lot to you, I'm not expecting you to boycott that. But I assume you just read the first post in this thread. The "Tell her bout it" was uncalled for, and I didn't want to bash you until you started expecting, maybe even wanting, me to bash you.

I'm curious.  What are the activities of the JRC that you rebuke?  I'm unfamiliar with this place/organization.  Thanks.

Bash away ,it would not be something unexpected. Probably will be ignored. But if you need something to type about, go right ahead.

I would be more interested in Lizzy`s trip to Mass.

In due time Skyblue. Maybe I'll PM you the details. I rather stay on topic.

For Ana, I was just being sarcastic for when I said, "Mmm War. Wink". I hope I can purchase that sarcmark soon, then I can put it to good use.

Anyways I'll just sit back and enjoy the fight/show/thread/discussion.

RE: Boycott Massachusetts! - Chamuel - 01-27-2010 12:38 AM

Ana meant well with her original post in this thread.   Maybe it wasn't that diplomatic, but I believe the point Ana was trying to establish related to the use of taxpayers money to fund JRC.
Ana is passionate in her condemnation of the Judge Rothenburg Centre.

RE: Boycott Massachusetts! - Chamuel - 01-27-2010 12:41 AM

^ an attitude to be admired.

RE: Boycott Massachusetts! - ForgottenMist - 01-27-2010 01:45 AM

That maybe so, but there are other ways to do it. Team up with the "Right To The City" non-pro in Massachusetts. They are all for human rights and equality. Maybe they could do something about the JRC. I am just glad Dade-County doesn't have one of those places yet. I would be out there with "Right To The City" with picket signs and everything. Wink

RE: Boycott Massachusetts! - BeNdEr - 01-27-2010 05:30 PM

Although I shouldn't I'm going to have to disagree with you Ana.  This may sound bias but I'm from Massachusetts and being from here I think I have abit more insight then you do.  Many people have opinions about this state but actually we pretty much rock!  Its a historical state with many sights to see: the Museum of Arts, the Science Museum (with the new Harry Potter exhibit), Fenway Park (One of the oldest baseball parks to this day), the Freedom Trail, etc.  Gay marriage is legal in this state which is great...I'm all for gay marriage!

Texas however...well all I have to say is George Bush! Thanks a lot Texas! hahaha Smile

Hey,

George H.W. Bush was born right in Milton, Massachusetts; pretty much the municipality "next door" to where the Adamses were born.

Other things to cite about Massachusetts:  Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket Island and the Mohawk Trail are all great places to visit.

In terms of music; in addition to Boston (I'm assuming the rock group Boston is indeed from Boston); Massachusetts gave us Arthur Fiedler, Leonard Bernstein and Ray Conniff.  Arthur Fiedler and Leonard Bernstein were both born in Massachusetts.  Arthur Fiedler; conductor of the Boston Pops from 1929 to 1979; made the Boston Pops a legendary orchestra.  Leonard Bernstein's career included composing and being a conductor for the New York Philharmonic.  Only recently, did I learn Ray Conniff was from Attleboro, Massachusetts.  (Ray Conniff was ba conductor for a soft vocal orchestra; he produced many albums in the 1960's and 1970's of contemporary pop songs).

Back to Arthur Fiedler; I'm an avid Arthur Fiedler fan.  I have many Arthur Fiedler CDs and 8-tracks as well as cassettes and records.  I have some pretty rare Arthur Fiedler/Boston Pops recordings as well.  I must not forget his Massachusetts buddy, Leroy Anderson.  If any of you are familiar with the Christmas song "Sleighride"; the music was composed by Leroy Anderson.  (Somebody else wrote the lyrics).  Leroy Anderson also composed instrumental tunes (1950's-ish) such as "The Syncopated Clock", "The Typewriter", and "Blue Tango".  Perhaps some of you are familiar with these tunes.  Leroy Anderson often worked closely with Arthur Fiedler including medley arrangements.

I beleive Norman Rockwell was also from Massachusetts.

You're thinking of the younger George Bush.  He was born in New Haven.  (I suspect the senior Bush was probably a Yale student at the time; I would have to confirm it.)  The elder George Bush; 41st. President of the United States; who is now 85 years old; was indeed born in Massachusetts.  Since his son became the 43rd. President, the elder Bush is commonly known as "George H.W. Bush" instead of simply "George Bush".  Speaking of Massachusetts, I remember in 1988 he was running agains the then Democratic Massachusetts Governor; Michael Dukakis.  I saw George (H.W.) Bush say his famous words "Read my lips.  No new taxes." during one of the 1988 debates with Dukakis.

Sorry!  I should have a bit clearer you misunderstood what I wrote...I was talking about George W Bush the former President!  Nothing against his dad...its George W. Bush who I worry about.  I have no problem with his father being from here...thats fine...his son on the other hand...yeah no thank you!

Judge Rotenburg Center. Claims to have a drug-free way of dealing with children but in reality the children are tortured (example, the children are shocked by electrodes).

Alright. I think a boycott should work, but also letters stating that we refuse any business in Massachusetts t until they stop funding that horrible place. >: (

That includes ONLINE businesses. I buy on eBay and if I see an online store fro Mass. I plan to write then an email explaining why I won't buy from them even if they have the lowest prices. The funding needs to be cut off! Someone should make a list.

RE: Boycott Massachusetts! - Duckfetishgirl - 02-15-2010 12:50 AM

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Companies_based_in_Massachusetts

Can someone find a more acurate list?

RE: Boycott Massachusetts! - Duckfetishgirl - 02-15-2010 12:52 AM

I think someone should compose a really good letter that can be emailed to all of the companies, as well as officials there. We could start an online petition, make a facebook page, too.

RE: Boycott Massachusetts! - ForgottenMist - 02-15-2010 04:23 AM

>_<; Again with the boycotting, I might as well tell the kids at the Y I can no longer help them with their home work. I mean come on, we are being so ridiculous here. I know how horrible that place is, but don't take it out on those innocent people and the whole state. That is like me taking my anger out on the whole state of New Jersey and New York because of things that happened to me.

Anyways, boycotting is such a bad idea. I rather just let things work it out themselves.

I would say more, but I am already sounding rude and arrogant. So I'll stop right now.

RE: Boycott Massachusetts! - Karbyn - 02-15-2010 04:29 AM

I don't know anything about the JRC situation, either, but it sounds like it was pretty bad.

What has happened?

RE: Boycott Massachusetts! - skyblue1 - 02-15-2010 05:06 AM

One or two people do not a boycott make. I agree with Lizzy that you shouldnt try to punish a whole state. Write letters to state senators or congressmen. They will be ignored also, but much more effective plan

Finally, I am getting noticed on this forum.

Anyways, I doubt a boycott with only two people would work.

State senators or congressmen would ignore this. They aren't for the Asperger's/Autistic rights movement. It's hard to get political people on our side. Especially when some of them are ignorant and unaware about what the issues are.

All we can do is educate and inform.

RE: Boycott Massachusetts! - aziraphale - 03-11-2010 01:39 AM

Boycotting only works when you have a significant portion of the population doing it. It also generally works better against companies than states. If you try to boycott Massachusetts you'll just alienate Bay Staters. I do have a bias as a Massachusetts resident myself though but I am just telling the truth.

RE: Boycott Massachusetts! - black butterfly - 08-23-2010 04:01 AM

hey aziraphale you can always come and live  here in melbourne

on another note
are these people crazy????
these people- arent people- BARBARIANS
the people who work at this **** jrc are below human in my point of view

monsters!

Dodging the language filter by changing one letter is not permitted. Or two. Or three. Etc. Impulsiveness is one thing, but this is a message board. You've got plenty of time to think about what you're writing before hitting the 'submit' button.  Furthermore, I've mentioned this to you before, so you may consider this a CAUTION. ZodRau

OMG, for some reason, Black Butterfly, I burst into laughter when I saw your spelling of "torture" because it's like "tourtiere" (meat pie... probably didn't spell that right lol). But you just motivated me to send letters to them again! In my last one I called the place a konzentrationslager, I think.

Black Butterfly has a good idea... Aspies who want to take part can stay with Aspies who do not live in Masachusetts...

Violet Yoshi, I know that calling people names is ***, but both of us can't help it because we have communication problems we have to work on (like not knowing nicer words), right? Big Grin
