    "Oblivious" (to the criticism of others) ... I like to think of myself as sufficiently grounded, and rounded, to be a decent human being).  I may be quiet, and yet contradictory in the manner in which I'm the first to stick up for others, and have a "go" at bullies.  Therefore, what people might say of me (good or bad) I consider of no relevance.  I don't like the idea of dwelling on compliments so that I might become big headed, or dwelling on negative comments that might cause me to be sad or depressed.  

    My advice - ignore what others say about you - good or bad.  NTs are notorious for their duplicity - so I don't trust what NTs usually say.  Instead I try to be kind to myself.  Just be yourself.

Oh yes, one poster on me reminded me that a girl in elementary school, younger than me, told me that her mother had said that my mother was mental, my father was mental and I was mental. People called me smart, sick, intimidating, schizophrenic, autistic, Aspie, PDD-NOS, Bipolar type 1, free, cool, and once someone even accused me of being domineering. People have said I have Post Traumatic Embitterment Disorder, that I`m psychotic too. People have called me fun as well. I have been told that I have a chip on my shoulder too, and that I have my father`s temper.

I use be percieved as dominereaing, like when I was haveing an argument with someone or trying to put a point across over enthusiasticly I'd stand way too close to them.
My m8 nearly beat me up once because of this lol.
Sometimes people think I'm being threataning as sometimes I speak in a loud voice and have
a blanck expression on my face.
Like one example which was a few years back I was talking about how I would litterally
steal a ferri if the polar ice caps would melt on us and this stupid woman was like 'can you stop being agressive' and I was like 'What??' and then she was like  ''Can you stop threaqtaning me'' those sorts of coments just make me want to explode.

I completely feel your pain, my FATHER was a psychologist if you can imagine that- having to live with someone that wants to 'fix' you all the time but he was so bad at it he was like a terrorist! if anyone did  make me more 'emotionally damaged' it was him- hope you find a professional that really IS one, I'm sure there are some good ones out there (not for me, though- ha! i'm done with being analyzed Smile )

Thank you, I do appreciate it.  Its just hard when the very people and profession that claim to be the 'experts' have themselves such a motley bunch of  unprofessional persons in their ranks, and are also the ones you are suppose to 'turn to' when you have a problem.

Thing is i have no problem passing for 'fine' (if not a bit young looking for my age and that can get me treated with less respect along with more than one persons ignorance)

I do think we have to have a 'think skin' and not let things bother us (as anyone) At the very least find a way to have dealt with these things earlier in life(once again as anyone should) Words can be conquered but people who are nasty more often than not are helpless after all in the end(as always)

I just wish so many people that were supposed to 'help' or were people I trusted to be 'there' were not themselves as afraid of how others viewed them as well.  So many of my anxiety issues can have originated from others having problems that I wonder still how many issues I have stem from that alone (that is why i hate the diag criteria not its to 'general' and 'non specific' IE traits that anyone could have for the SAME reasons you know?) Not to mention my lack of real formal education (I was gone from grade school a TON because of fear of the other kids and teacher)

I don't really approve of people being called the one in bold unless they're actually doing some harm in the process somehow. Usually it's not even anything to *** at someone about and you can call just about anyone out on it for the things that people get called that for. And wow this is such a long list ! If people call me a troll, I take it as a compliment because at least they don't think I am stupid or naive or dumb. If people think I am playing dumb, at least they don't think I am stupid or ignorant. If I am called retarded, at least they could tell I was different and I have something but unfortunately retarded is all they can come up with. If anyone thinks I am bullshitting about my issues because they don't think I lack common sense or are unable to read between the lines, at least they believe in me and don't think that of me despite that others have made those claims about me. I just need to believe in myself and stop believing everything people tell me about me.

I don't think I lack common sense anymore because I have seen people lacking real common sense because of stupid things they do. I am sure you have heard dumb 911 calls people have made in the United States or things people do with their items so we have all these dumb warnings on our products because people sue for their own poor judgment and my dad thinks they do that for money, not because they are stupid. So yeah we do have common sense. People just say we lack it because we take things literal or don't read between the lines or meet their standards or because we don't pick up on the social rules. I put it this way, everyone lacks common sense.

As for reading between the lines, that is a yes and no for me so I can do it. I see a note in the basement on the door and it says "lights" and I know it means to turn them off when you leave. Plus I can learn patterns in people and then I will know after a while what they want.


Oh yeah when Isabel accused me of manipulating her and telling me I am so good, I take that as a compliment. I wish I was that good. I have never tried it to see if I am or not and don't want to because that would involve hurting people.

The one that gets to me the most, is im probably low average at alot of simple things, but I can take a computer and do anything to it ,if im left alone. I have wrote books ..etc.If its in my interest I can do it well. I hate when people say well you can work on a computer or you can sure take care of the finances or write they pretty much call me a liar if I cant do something they think is simple !

This thread is rather pointless, sorry. We all get called all sorts but what's the point going on about it? There's never anything to do about it & we tell each other not to 'whinge' or whatever. No practical advice, other than 'just get over it', 'just get out more', 'stop caring' & all the rest. I'm just far too fed up with all the rubbish to carry on pretending!
