Big Dog: the most ****** up real robot i've ever seen. - Ian - 05-12-2008 04:09 AM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1czBcnX1Ww RE: Big Dog: the most ****** up real robot i've ever seen. - leemcd56 - 05-12-2008 04:30 AM Holy crap that is so messed o.O imagine being asleep and waking up to that in your face... RE: Big Dog: the most ****** up real robot i've ever seen. - ReineDeLaSeine14 - 05-12-2008 07:52 AM It's more like a robotic fly...and why the hell did that guy kick it??? RE: Big Dog: the most ****** up real robot i've ever seen. - Natalie - 05-12-2008 08:43 AM I would run away if I saw that walking around. I'm totally serious. I had to stop watching the video about 30 seconds in. RE: Big Dog: the most ****** up real robot i've ever seen. - Joel Marx - 05-12-2008 08:48 AM It reminds me of one of those monsters on Silent Hill. RE: Big Dog: the most ****** up real robot i've ever seen. - Bella - 05-12-2008 11:31 AM That is really cool. I love how it gets it balance again on the ice and when it's kicked and the run and jump at the end was cool too. It did sound like a pack of bees though. RE: Big Dog: the most ****** up real robot i've ever seen. - Ian - 05-12-2008 11:54 AM He kicked it to show that it can right itself instantly, some people can't manage that
RE: Big Dog: the most ****** up real robot i've ever seen. - ῦ - 05-12-2008 04:59 PM is that the Hunter like thing? regains its balance when you knock it over? has a load of sandbags on its back? cant view, at college =/ RE: Big Dog: the most ****** up real robot i've ever seen. - DogBrain - 05-12-2008 05:52 PM The reason it looks so creepy is because it has an inflexible spine and no visible "head" at the front. RE: Big Dog: the most ****** up real robot i've ever seen. - Ian - 05-12-2008 07:03 PM Cuz ya know, the fact it's like a giant buzzing fly isn't freaky at all. RE: Big Dog: the most ****** up real robot i've ever seen. - ῦ - 05-12-2008 07:13 PM actually, I think a flexible spine would be even more creepy... RE: Big Dog: the most ****** up real robot i've ever seen. - Ian - 05-12-2008 07:19 PM the legs are organic looking enough ;p wait til they stick a gun on. RE: Big Dog: the most ****** up real robot i've ever seen. - Joker - 05-12-2008 08:06 PM They prefer wheeled models as gun-bots for some reason, though I can see several other uses for the kind of technology the Big Dog uses; wait until they build bigge models, complete with cockpits and weapons. See Xbox360 game: Chromehounds. It's just like the said on The Simpsons. The wars of the future will be fought by tiny robots on remote mountaintops. The US Army will exist to service and maintain those robots. Another main reason why it is creepy (at least to me) is its structural symmetry... That is, the front legs are exactly the same as the back legs, just pointing the opposite direction. In another video of it they switched the front legs around so it could climb a hill easier, and that didn't look scary to me.

Looked more like a goat than a dog. RE: Big Dog: the most ****** up real robot i've ever seen. - Ian - 05-12-2008 11:17 PM I laugh when I see you. Oh, or are you one of humanity's few tentative advancements? noooo. RE: Big Dog: the most ****** up real robot i've ever seen. - ῦ - 05-12-2008 11:38 PM Ian, settle down. I want my Prosthetic Body. this pleases me. it may lead on to my Prosthetic Body
RE: Big Dog: the most ****** up real robot i've ever seen. - DogBrain - 05-12-2008 11:43 PM I want one so my real dog will have something he can assault with impunity. Darn critter is as quiet and gentle as a lamb around me or my kids, not so much around anyone else. Quote: That's one of my things... some words.. and some combinations of words.. are simply ugly, and it's like I can feel/taste it or something. Blech

RE: Big Dog: the most ****** up real robot i've ever seen. - Ivar T - 05-13-2008 07:35 PM I like Ian, he has this awesome philosophy that I want to learn - I'm practicing it at the norwegian forum and it works great! RE: Big Dog: the most ****** up real robot i've ever seen. - Ian - 05-13-2008 07:36 PM Examples please
RE: Big Dog: the most ****** up real robot i've ever seen. - Ivar T - 05-13-2008 07:48 PM Guess I would have to find some good ones then, cuz most are nothing close to as good as the original Ian posts. RE: Big Dog: the most ****** up real robot i've ever seen. - Ivar T - 05-13-2008 07:52 PM Was once when I wrote after some talk about empathy regarding autism and people mixing it up with compassion: "Nah, I don't care about others - I just hide in a dark scary castle keeping folks away and tries to create Frankenstein" RE: Big Dog: the most ****** up real robot i've ever seen. - Ian - 05-13-2008 07:59 PM Very close mate, very close. try this one: "Oh it's not my AS, i'm just a ***." RE: Big Dog: the most ****** up real robot i've ever seen. - Ivar T - 05-13-2008 08:02 PM Thanks! RE: Big Dog: the most ****** up real robot i've ever seen. - Ian - 05-13-2008 08:16 PM Replace *** with any profanity you call someone/refer to yourself as ;p I presume they understand the humour? but then, it's better if they don't. Mayhap I should come aboard A-S as an Oberstleutnant
RE: Big Dog: the most ****** up real robot i've ever seen. - skyblue1 - 05-06-2012 02:02 AM **bump** RE: Big Dog: the most ****** up real robot i've ever seen. - Alison - 05-07-2012 12:08 AM Thanks for bumping this, sky, what an amazing creation! I think it looks not so much like a "big dog" as a four-legged spider, and thought that slipping in the ice would be lessened if there were two stabilizing legs at each side specifically to help keep its balance for icy conditions. Also, had to watch the video without the sound on, since that constant buzzing of its operation set my teeth on edge. But apart from that, a fascinating construct, particularly as it was picking its way over rubble and jumping. It seems to be able to navigate by itself, since it was able to skip the white lines in the lab and not bump into trees. I'd be interested to know how that was done. Alison RE: Big Dog: the most ****** up real robot i've ever seen. - mels8780 - 05-08-2012 03:54 AM LOL OMFG!!! Dude, on halloween, wouldn't it be cool if they released this into the forest? And people had no idea wtf it was and ran away? xD LOL! Its coming to getttt youuu... they hear some kind of buzzing and check it out and that thing is walking towards them, lol! RE: Big Dog: the most ****** up real robot i've ever seen. - mels8780 - 05-08-2012 03:59 AM I would use one to keep people away from my house on halloween, and put a giant candy bowl out. CX. It can buzz louder and pace faster and head towards people if they come near it. LOL. |
