If YOU could be God, what would YOU do?
Here is what I would do:
1. I would have made a lifelong commitment of two men or two women parallel with a lifelong commitment between one and the other and NOT criminalized one of them.
You can take this at full face value Max. I've never had a personal problem with a gay person. (I forget what my mom said about which gay friend of dad's was what in their wedding, they seemed OK with that too)
2. I'd make the birth process a lot easier and no one would die from it
3. I'd demand blood for blood shed, death for murderers, and I would kill them Myself
4. I'd strike down all those whose greed would cause them to harm or kill anyone or others, even if they were high and mighty
5. War would not happen. I'd lay waste to the aggressor first.
6. Rapists would have to lose a part of their party
7. People who verbally abuse members of their family would have to lose another respective part of their body
8. I wouldn't make sex pleasurable, unless it is designed to disarm someone emotionally in a loving relationship. I'd make love even more pleasurable, add a extrasensory perceptive angle to it.
9. There would have to be some sort of way to judge people on character not looks or game playing or money, maybe prophets or wise people could evaluate people in My name
10. Relationship abusers would have to be marked people so no one would go near them again

With respect to Virginia politics, the only thing I can really understand is the regulation of immigration.
People will let things get out of hand if you let them with respect to things like welfare and immigration.
America has to learn to solve its own employment problems with the people it already has.
People in America who might theoretically be able to work should be working and paying taxes.
It also needs to enforce its laws, any law, every law, reasonably regulate human behavior with not more than some tolerable degree of error. If a country can't do that, it is finished, especially in a time of war or invasion.
During the next pandemic flu, I would cringe to think how many undocumented persons were bringing it with them.

Here is what I would do:
i would give normal people a chance to see what i see when i look in the eyes of a lost soul. expashilly those teens contamplating suiside.they NEED to know what they are planning.i've seen to many crossover like that.
i would rebuild this plain, first i would bring the the souls i had left on the earth back to me with thier awareness.and have them help me create.then i would after i finish set a clestail daycare up.

I really don't think God is being fair to gay people, the only difference is that I do not take it personally. Gay? Bisexual? You call that evil? The only thing I can call that is different, at worst, wierd, but then again, as a virgin, sex across the board seems wierd and the least bit gross.
Christians still get to have an opinion, and I guess even to say it.

I haven't seen in the bible that god hates gays or disapproves of homosexuality. I don't think you are being fair to gay people by assuming that god doesn't like their way of life; though perhaps I'm wrong, maybe you have researched this and found incredibly conclusive evidence in a verse that backs your belief. I haven't seen one. How are you so incredibly certain that being a christian means you believe that god has a problem with homosexuality?

Romans 1 verse something says it is unnatural, somewhere in Levicitus prescribed the death penalty for people in the nation of Israel caught having same-sex sex. Mind you the nation of Israel at one point in the past. During the last 2000 years, at the very beginning and very recently, Christians were either in a hostile society or in a secular church-state-separated one, so we are fairly close to living in eastern Mediterrean cities of the Roman Empire, with freedom, before Nero made Christianity a crime in the Empire.
I am kind of glad we got away from the Scarlet Letter and the Puritans, because at times since America was founded by English-speaking Europeans, we have done the same to people of other religions.

I reckon that if I were God I'd be running things just as they are. 
God is a good parent - God allows us souls to grow and leave home (by entering a living body) and doesn't interfere. We know that God is there to return to as and when we want, but it means that we know we are being trusted to make our own way in the world, helping or being horrid as we choose.
I'm afraid that Guess Who's God would be like having a live-in malevolent mother-in-law.

If I were God, I would make everybody's teeth decay proof (guess my fear of dentists is showing here).
I would not make people who want to kill each other.
Childbirth would be safe and not painful.
There would be enough jobs for everybody who wanted to work and they would have proper pay and good conditions so that everybody who wanted to support themselves and have a family could.
I'd have to think a bit further as to what else I'd do. These are just the first thoughts.

It would definitely be a good idea to know the thoughts and feelings of others, to enhance empathy, but to what extent?
I don't see a lot of hope for Earth. It seems people need to be policed. Too much war, crime, discrimination. I guess policing becomes oppressive fear, though. Think Gestapo, KGB, Stasi. Average people living in fear. Maybe God didn't want that.
I wish God would reveal Himself plainly. I think God is all but hiding for the moment. Even though Maxed Out has Jerry Falwell praising tithing and all, and proclaimed that the laws of economics are bended (by God) in favor of tithers, not so for myself, not in my experience in 1996-1997 after graduate school.
The only explanation that makes sense to me about 1996 and 1997 is that God wanted to force me to stay close to my mother after the death of Dad, as quite plainly my little brother demonstrated a strong preference instead to carry out Dad's advice, get a job and get lost. I was ready to do the same.
(I am told, Mom's brother Wayne, that she converted on her deathbed about 36 hours before the end. Maybe that's why.)
But why I am single now really escapes me.

Of course God doesn't want people to live in fear, forever looking over their shoulder towards the impending doom that might overtake them. That isn't life - that is existence, and a miserable one at that!
Tithing is a crock! For an example, there is a book written recently by a lady whose parents were very much involved in Hillsong. I will find out what it is and hopefully buy it because I think far too many people are conned into giving money that never gets to the poor and disadvantaged who need it.
I have a few theories why you might be single - partly lack of opportunity, much of it having too inflexible rules about who and where you will date and maybe being a bit boring.
Would you have any friends in your church who could do a bit of matchmaking? Dating a workmate isn't the unforgiveable sin. Neither is dating a woman without a car. What about a lady who has a bike or a motor scooter or motor bike? You could be really daring and date a lady who drives a Harley.
What about a more carefree hairstyle and some more colourful clothes to make you more visible? Just a few ideas, anyway.
Whatever you do, if you are on a date, avoid talking about armageddon and mass destruction. This is a sure passion-killer.

What's the use of it? I see no use - neither for God nor for people.
And with my own idea (God is an energy) it lies on physicians to prove God's existence. Bad thing: if the idea of "God-energy" is correct, it is extremely hard to prove, since then God-energy is EVERYWHERE....
BTW if I were God I'd make crimes physically impossible! For example, on wouldn't be able to die because of a murder, only natural death would be present.

I actually think there is an element of prejudice or unfairness in that.

When your daughter is raped because some teenage male turns pedo or rapist as a man because no he's shut out of getting his sexual and needs for physical intimacy met, THEN you will understand. Don't give me this crap. It's you people that don't understand and thats why things like Virginia tech massacre happen, Cho most likely needed to be loved and have an outlet for his frustration.
You really need to read the criminal research on pedophilia and rape.
But I am sure those of us who have a chance to look back on our lives from Heaven will be sorry if we ever made choices based on appearance or anything else far short of character, etc.

On The Big Bang Theory (sitcom) this week, an aspie character said of physicists and String Theory "They can't really prove it. The most they can say is that it has internal consistency." (Actually, it was a more complex comment, but it went over my head. My boyfriend thought it was hilarious, but he's a physicist.)
That's about the best that can be said of god theories, too, I think. Although, of course, there's no consistency as presented in the bible.

I'd stop all bullying in schools, the workplace, everywhere. Of course, that would probably mean either re-engineering the genes of all NTs, or else getting rid of them altogether. That would solve a host of other problems, as well: wars, climate change, economic inequality, etc, etc.
Sounds nice, an Aspie Utopia! Of course, I might keep a *few* NTs around, I mean we'll always need plumbers to do the dirty work. Maybe we could breed them in jars so their numbers don't get out of hand.

Well, since I'm being (temporarily!) God, I'd give them their own planet somewhere far away, or else move us Aspies to another planet that's not been so wrecked by human overpopulation. We breed slow, we'd probably be kinder on the world than the NTs, with their need for social status and "keeping up with the Jones's" could ever be.
So, it wouldn't be a problem. (If I was God.)

In my 'fantasy' world... everyone is Q. Which is to say... they have only the limits of their will and imagination to sustain any 'meaningful' existence and foregone 'reality' that encompasses their existence.
Everyone conjures the 'perfect' house, 'perfect' booze, 'perfect' flavoring ingredients, 'perfect' food, 'perfect' subservient race/species, etc.
'A sorceror with a universe unto themselves' is the motto at work here. Sentience is the "beginning" and the "end", and the ONLY means to living. Everything else is a work of 'artifice'... including the worker ants under one's feet!

I would act as if I didn't exist at all. The only clues I would leave to my existence would be appearing to some ancient and superstitious tribal people and doing some magic tricks. Then, just before I leave them, I'd say "I'll be right back", and leave them hanging for thousands of years. Just for fun.
I'd also leave the instructions for how to live according to My Will in some ancient and conflicting books. In these books I'd also describe a bunch of stuff that I had supposedly done a few thousand years earlier, knowing (of course) that this would be proven incorrect once the people I created developed a basic understanding of science.
Just to make things interesting I would give slightly different instructions on how to live according to My Will to different groups of people. Then I'd tell some of those groups of people that in order to follow my will that they need to be completely pacifist, and I'd tell other groups of people that in order to follow my will that they need to kill people who don't follow the same set of instructions that they do.
THEN I'd sit back and watch the world burn. No need to set fire to it myself, I have already set the wheels in motion thousands of years ago.
And if you think that makes any sense, then you're probably not an atheist.

So, basically if you were a god, you'd become Kira from DeathNote and be a serial killer yourself. MORE suffering doesn't help anyone and one is a degree of disgusting themselves if they'd make more family/friend-member victims just to avenge someone else. (double pain- your daddy just killed someone and NOW he's going to be killed!)
I have no concept of letting bad people live long enough to repent, fortunately, Jesus does.

Incidentally, God committed homicide several times in The Bible - not least by creating the great flood. Should he be killed? If so, why do you still worship him?

I don't know about you guys, but if I actually believed in Almighty God then I wouldn't be making threads like this telling him how he should be doing his job. Kind of borders on sacrilege if you ask me.

Be that as it may, if I were Almighty God I would be sending out a bolt of lightning with Shrek's name on it for being cheeky enough to start this thread.
Personally, as an atheist, I think it's a good thread. But if I were Almighty God I'd not be taking any cr@p from anyone.

Yh. Ironically, Shrek's the most militantly Christian person on this forum (I think - correct me if I'm wrong). Presuming to correct God's conduct must be a pretty bad sin by his own philosophy (not that the philosophy in question makes any logical sense anyway).
There is a fair point behind it all though, because if God does exist then he's crap at his job. If I was omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent, I'd ensure that the world was a better place than it is.

I think if i were god i would condone Genocide, human sacrifice, kill my own son, promte slavery, create a hell throw good people in it for not believing in me and "save" people for supplicating to me. I would outlaw homosexuality and the eating of pork and shellfish.
I would make myself known to illiterate bronze age hillmen and then let the people get on with things never intervening.
That is what I would do, because it makes good sense and is very moral.

God tells Moses to exterminate the residents of Canaan and destroy all of their religious symbols and possessions. 33:50-52
God delivers the Amorites into Moses' hands. (You're in God hands with Moses.) So Moses does the usual thing, killing everyone "until their was none left alive." 21:34-35
31:1-54. Under God's direction, Moses' army defeats the Midianites. They kill all the adult males, but take the women and children captive. Admittedly, all the people who did these killings would now appear to be dead. So, in a way, God did carry out capital punishment on them, even if the murders were his idea to start with!
