Help, help, help!!!! Tracing emails sent... - cant_think_of_a_username - 09-19-2007 04:16 AM

Is there any way to trace what emails you've sent out/what email addresses you've sent stuff to? I'm very very worried i may have sent the wrong email to someone....
My sent messages are not automatically saved in my Yahoo account...

is there any way in heaven or hell???????

Unless you have automatically saved, I don't know of many ways. Perhaps the history button on your browser? Click the page which should show the sent message.

You could send that person an apology email.  It depends on how well you know the person and what is at stake.

I've just checked my Hotmail via history & can't see anything except for pages I've viewed. I will ask My son when he's back, he shouldn't be to long

I'm very sorry, but my son says he doesn't think it can be done.

Yeah, it can't really be done. Unless you want to go to the trouble of getting support from your email service. I guess you live and learn. Try to remember to save the drafts of every mail you write (if your email service doesn't automatically put messages into a "sent box"), double check the draft, and then send the email. It is a hassle, but it is worth it when sending some important information.

I use AOL mail and it has an "unsend" button, which I assume deletes the desired message from the person's mailbox if they have not opened it yet. I think other email services have stuff like this as well, so check around really well and see if you find something (or contact an administrator and see if they have a feature like that).

above was button pressed in error

I did ask someone who does computer programming in USA...sorry, but no it can't be done.

I know that what is done is done now, but I've done this in the past ( or at least intended to save an email sent, so I put 'a post it' on the top of the monitor to remind me.

The new hotmail, although just awful at the moment, does have 'save all messages sent option'.

Anyone want a laugh re email mistake I made the other day????

I don't have many people on my email contact list.
A few friends & relatives
The lawyer
The people with whom I have been in dispute with re funding for my mother's care
eg All top NHS & SS bigwigs.
Landry registry office.
people from companies to whom I have complained etc etc

So really....mainly people I DO NOT like.

A friend asked me to join 'Face' the other night, I did but found it awfully slow, so in the end shut it down & got on with other things.

The next day, I went on to try again...only to find that every single person on my contact list had been invited to 'be my friend'!!   ........Well what's been done can't be undone  :Rolleyes Rolleyes RolleyesRolleyesRolleyesRolleyes

I would  have loved to be a fly on the wall in some of those offices!!

I use separate email accounts for certain things.  I never use send all on contact list.

Ask Timelord. I am sure he can help out here.

RE: Help, help, help!!!! Tracing emails sent... - woman from mars - 10-02-2007 11:41 PM

It wasn't the email that was at fault, it was something that I did on facebook..it seems to automatically have all on the contact list already there, I must have inadvertently clicked something.Big GrinBig GrinBig GrinBig GrinBig GrinBig GrinBig Grin

I couldn't handle more than one email address, Hotmail is going through changes that are nearly driving me mad & I have sent several complaints, but it is still easier for me to stay with what I am familiar with.Wink

lol Thanks for the laugh WfM. Smile
It's good to be able to laugh at one's "mistakes".  I like the old Hotmail better actually-This new way is driving me a bit crazy too-it's very busy to look at for one thing. Why change it anyway??

What really drives me crackers ( & I don't really need any more help to achieve this ) is that damned great advert that stops you viewing the page.RolleyesRolleyes

I am told the main point to the new hotmail, is that they wanted to get rid of the option to use a POP3/SMTP client, like outlook. This is becauise they made less (sometimes no) money when people could send and receive via outlook etc. Now advertisers will pay because they know everybody will see the advert.
