Bio: I am a 26-year-old autistic woman.  I don't use functioning labels or believe in them.  When given the choices above though (in terms of functioning labels), the only one I've had officially on paper was "low functioning" (although usually none have been used whatsoever).  I wish there was just an option for "autistic" though, because I'm not into those LFA/HFA divisions at all and they'd chop me and my life right in half.  I've had a number of psych labels in the past (and tried to go along with them at times) and a number of fluctuations in ability in the past and some people think that's a big deal for some reason.

My main interests (besides stimmy stuff) are human rights and various derivatives of that.  I've been involved in the disability rights, psych survivor, and developmental disability self-advocacy movements as well as the autistic liberation movement.  I don't believe in the bulk of psychiatry -- neuroscience and cognitive science seem much more scientific.

I'm a Quaker which is a relatively small Christian denomination technically called the Religious Society of Friends.  Spirituality is central to my life but I mostly keep it between me and God rather than preaching on street corners and stuff.

I like making videos, although I haven't made enough recently.

I've become involved with a group of people doing autism research, who actually view me as a colleague rather than a specimen.

And I wouldn't trade being autistic for much of anything, no matter how problematic things get at times.
