I don't know whether this means anything, but I drink "wrong"---I stick my tongue in the glass with every gulp, as if I were using a straw. Cool Apparently the "normal" way is simply to swallow the liquid with no use of the tongue.  I suppose I could train myself to do that, but my few childhood attempts were awkward, and after 41 years, why change something that works?  Anyway, I think I taste more this way.  Does anyone else do this? Smile
I don't know if I drink funny, but apparently I tie my shoes funny. When pointed out I would explain to people that I learned how to tie my shoes while I was across from someone... but that's not really true. I figured it out by myself at some point and its just "wrong".

Thought I'd add.
And yet your shoes stay on, and I get plenty of liquids without choking, so I guess our "wrong" methods work just fine for us. Cool

Exactly right!

One thing I have always done incorrectly is the way I hold utensils.  I never learned the right way, either that or I didn't care to change my preconceived method, as it worked for me.

I hold my forks and spoons with my fist pointing upward.  When people notice it (not too often) they say it looks aggressive and impolite.  If you can't picture it I'll say it looks like I'm holding them as if I was going to stab something.

Anyone else do this?

I did work with a guy who held his fork in his fist, only with the fist "downward," so his index finger was nearest the prongs.
My daughter drinks with her tongue visible on the outside of the glass. Her underlip dous not touch the glass. She had speechtherapy and it did change her drinking a bit. She does it half of the time the 'normal' way and half of the time her way. An aunt of my put her tongue in the glass till in her thirties, then stopped putting her tongue in the glass and now she drinks as most people do.

The speechtherapist said there is a trainingmethod to change drinking behaviour. But its very rigid. So if you really want to change it, you could try. But if you managed to get 41 drinking the way you do, why would you need it.

Me. I do. My husband calls it the "cave man" hold. Smile Thankfully I'm not often invite to fancy dinners.

Oh yes, I also braid hair wrong. Glad as I am to be able to braid (I'm actually quite good at it) I braid upside down so when i do a "french" braid it is actually a "german" braid. That will only make sense if you know what either of those braids are... Its inverted, basically. I think its the same problems as my shoe-tying.

When drinking from a can, I place my lower lip on the bottom of the opening, rather than where people normally drink from. It really bugs my little brother for some reason.
I go at any sort of bottle with the side of my mouth.

I've been told I look like a wino.
yeah, i stick my tongue in my cup as well. i don't really care though. at least i don't slurp, which also seems to be part of "normal" drinking. i absolutely hate the sound of slurping! it grosses me out.

Your aunt sounds like me, except that I am going to continue drinking "my" way. Cool  Interesting to learn that there is at least one other person who has done this.
