'Autistic Spectrum Insights' conference in Finland, August 26th-27th 2005

The Finnish Association for Autism and Asperger’s syndrome is organising a conference focusing on autistic people’s academic and peer support related expertise. Major themes are adult life management, supporting participation in organisations, use of information technology, and higher education.

We have a majority of people on the autistic spectrum in the planning committee. We aim to have mainly autistic speakers. This is not a retreat however, and not meant to be entirely by and for autistic people. We hope to attract parents and professionals by having a ‘life span’ approach in some of the lectures. We will try to attract a lot of publicity. By creating public discourse between several different views brought up by autistic people, we hope to give autistic viewpoints more credibility and attention than they have had so far.

The call for papers is now up on our website at

The program and some other parts of the website are still under construction. The registration form should appear within two weeks.
