Have you ever had people say things long the line of "how much did you pay for her?" or "how much does she charge?"
I get this a lot when people hear my honey is a Filipina, and it's not the first I've had those remarks - one of my ex girlfriends was Vietnamese, and I got the same hurtful remarks when they knew I was her boyfriend.
Why do some people think that Asian girls are like that?
Well, During Colonial times white people got this idea of Asian women as being sweet and submissive and stuff like that. Maybe that's your problem.
I am Asian myself and whenever I see an old white guy with a younger asian woman I think to myself "mail order bride" and laugh. Most technically are not mail order brides but something very similar. I know I shouldn't generalize but that's usually the case.
Racist bullshit. Pure and simple.
E D, is she here or is she still in the Philippines?
Max, she lives in the Philippines and is currently working in Manila as a call center agent. Here's a pic she took a while ago:
I'm aiming to visit her on her 22nd birthday next year.
Oh.
So you've ever even seen her?
What is the -uh -- product or service these people think you're "paying" for?
I dated a Korean from Equally Yoked Christian singles. It didn't seem to be going anywhere for her, so we broke up. Perhaps the endogamy preference was more of a let-down-easy thing. But I did tell her ever so nicely that my church in Greenbelt also served a bunch of Korean believers after our service. Hope she found a nice one, I blew off Greenbelt 5 years ago.
Incidentally, I know I've had crushes on four ethnic groups, Far Eastern, African American, Latina, and my own, Caucasoid.
I couldn't do a damned thing about it, but I've liked the same at work.
I've dated as many African Americans as whites.
They said Terry Nichols was a loser for getting a mail order bride (ABC I think, verified on
http://www.jaynadavis.com/bio.html). Terry deserved it (only because of Oklahoma City), but not his ex-wife Marife Torres.
Jayna Davis??
Crazy Jazy Davis who says Bill Clinton and Saddam Hussein were behind the OKC bombing?
GuessWho, why do you even know who Jayna Davis is? She's completely unknown outside of deranged ultra-right wing cockoo-conspiracy circles.
I know people who knew her back in Oklahoma. Looney-Tunes.
A lot of men (losers) who can't relate to women and want someone they believe will be totally submissive go for Asian women. They often wind up surprised by the eentual outcome...
My apology about the source, but I do distinctly recall someone making a pot shot at convicted criminal Terry Nichols because of his foreign-born wife. I hope if I married a non-citizen, no one would make a shot at me, and they probably wouldn't, I am not a criminal or a terrorist. Maybe they would, but I hope not.

Reminds me of my Vietnamese co-worker. I couldn't say what I thought when she was here, and now she is elsewhere.
I remember reading Neil Sheehan A Bright Shining Lie, the story of Lieutenant Colonel John Paul Vann and U.S. involvement in Vietnam. I gave my co-worker a copy because it was an education for me. Filipinos working for American agencies practically screamed CIA, because the Filipinos were essentially American in culture, wrote Sheehan.
We would have been better off asking the Vietnamese what they wanted and then going home. We would have had 50,000 more Americans and many more Vietnamese living today.
And I wouldn't have spent my adolescence worried that Reagan would pull another Vietnam on us in somewhere like Nicaragua.
I married a wonderful Filipina, and although no one has said it to my face, I know many whisper "mail order bride", esp. when we first got married. (It's not true BTW)
People know that many people from poor Asian countries (and elsewhere) really want to come to a Western country and some will do almost anything to do that Unfortunately, they figure that all are like that.
Send a PM if you have any questions/want advice etc.
We have a war on terrorism, we are short on troops, if I was Bush on 9/11 I would have suggested a draft, but we can't have one. Whether or not it is to save Jenna and Barbara Bush, I don't know.
It's not a "war on terrorism" -- it's an illegal invasion that became an occupation.
And the Bushkies don't want a traditional draft. They want what we have right now -- an economic draft where the poor and under-privileged do all the dying. Bush/Cheney et al believe that dying should be left to those of inferior status.
Or as your Christian brother Tom Delay said about his own past as a draft dodger, so many minority youths had volunteered ... that there was literally no room for patriotic folks like himself.
