This came to me this afternoon!

I had idea about making a preschool for auties and aspies! It will be specially designed and run by professionals with Asperger's and have a circulum designed for ASD folk.

What do you think?
It sounds like an interesting idea.
It's a great idea Bardwolf, I would have preferred be in a school like this when i was a child, but i think it would be a little expensive
Hm... It's pretty much brilliant, I say.

Seriously, who better to understand and accept ASD kids than those with ASDs?
Any ideas on how to get this into more than an idea?
First step is for me to get Eary Childcare license. The other is for me to gain some exsperiance and talk to someone about the idea
i went to a preschool like that, but there was also other kinds of students there besides autistic students.
Yeah inclusion programs are pretty common, and they are usually intended for every child with a disability (not just autism).
Well not all disable children are like Austics, I personally would like one for Autists.
Ok I was watching the Autism Everyday vid. I must say.....it's interesting. I was annoyed as *** when they women were whining about their social lives. Seriously. Stop bitching D:

But the point is...(what there is a point?) what if my preschool has classes and funding for parents to help raise their son. And teach them that there is joy in there child...
I made a thread earlier in the education forum - Ultimate AS School, I think it has alot of replies. One idea I just got was to let aspies at mainstream schools have the opportunity of more contact with eachother. Maybe putting them in the same classes but I fear that could give that class a negative reputation among all of the students at that school and make everyone in that class unpopular. The contact could be more of a "secret" or at least not that apparent.
But are you yourself an Aspie?
As a parent with AS who has preschoolers I think its an amazing idea. My kids would be first in line. Though I don't think either of them are imparticularly anywhere on the spectrum... time will tell.

But I do wonder what the NT parent would think walking into the facility? Probably as daunting as I found my daughter's open house for kindergarten (so many smiling faces!). It might be a hard sell to the emoters of the bunch. Smile

Is emoters a word? It should be if its not.
Ok, then I see it as a good idea, mainly because I want teachers to relate to the students in a deeper level. I could relate to the preschoolers when I worked at the Preschool and I feel that in my Preschool/Educational Center that the teachers should understand the students in way that they can relate to them.
I think it is a wonderful idea and hope something positive and concrete will come of it.
I agree. Marvelous idea. Good luck with it! Smile
