I have been officially diagnosed with AS. I got the diagnosis yesterday. I had the testing last month. They did some motor skills tests and memory tests. and also sound-speech perception tests. I also took an IQ test. I am glad that i now have something official and will be looking into SSI benifits and enrolling back in school to get my degree in History.
Nix on the history, Mick. I was officially DXed too and I hold a Master's in sociology. It can be relevant to real-time processing of social responses, like a flight control computer. But there are many more with History and the interviewers tend to grade on social skills.
It would be better to target a career with minimal competition. The state of Maryland trained me in computer programming (with that much classroom experience, 22 hours was a cinch). Find out what you can do and enjoy and what's hot.
Well done!
I was hoping to give myself a fiftieth birthday present of an official diagnosis (in November) but having had two dangerous heart conditions diagnosed last month

I am rather busy with that, and my gift to myself will have to wait.
I was officially Diagnosed with Asperger syndrome today. It has given me a different motivation to move forward in life based on my own needs rather than the expectations of others that I have for so long tried to live by. I hope I can now move on from the work and home life that has made my life so hard to manage upto now and live in a more appropriate way to suit myself.
I'm glad for you
