I've just read the latest issue of New Scientist, (No 2610, 30 June 2007) and on pages 26/27 there's a very interesting article entitled "Let's Meet Tomorrow in Second Life", by Celeste Biever. It's thoughtful and well-presented, I thought, and talks about how the WWW "has levelled the playing field for people with autism, giving them a bigger, broader audience."
I'd recommend a read of it.
