It is very easy to assume straight away that the man is a psycopathy. He may well be. I think there may be a deeper story there though. I am reserving judgement. It is an absolute tragedy!
I wonder if WWE would be approachable about ASD's and support - given this development. Some support for the memory of Daniel Benoit.
That's a good suggestion, actually- they could set up a "Daniel Benoit ASD Support Fund", which could fund services for ASD adults, educational programs for parents and teachers, proper schooling services, ect. You should write them a letter suggesting it.
From what I read, Fragile X causes devleopmental delay that's pretty severe--worse than Down syndrome, on average. So yeah, it'd be pretty obvious.
Re. "Pro wrestling isn't 'real'": Remember that, despite being coreographed, wrestling still requires a great amount of physical strength and agility. It joins other respected sports like ballroom dancing, figure skating, and gymnastics--These are "performance sports", in which athleticism and acting join hands.
Kylo, I'm involved in the business locally. It was shaken up big time by the death of Eddie Guerrero. I'm afraid you are making assumptions based on a rather large dose of misplaced scepticism. Vince WAS into that sort of stuff. The death of Eddie woke him and everyone else up.
If you choose not to believe me, then it's not my problem.
Let's wait until the toxicology reports are released before saying anything else. If Chris Benoit shows up positive on steroids - I'll apologise. But if he turns up negative and Daniel turns up positive - I expect an apology from you.
PS - there are a lot of dumb teachers and doctors in this world. They would have missed Fragile X. It happens. It would be naive of you to assume that everyone can see a Fragile X child just like that.
Wow! Kylo had a different opinion to you and you demand an apology from him if his opinion is "proved false". People are allowed to believe different to you Timelord. This is not your personal forum and domain.
Though you did say "If Chris Benoit shows up positive on steroids - I'll apologise", didn't you?
Great idea! Whilst you are at it how about you apologise to my lady for being an ass to her and calling her names?
No Jenna I think Timelord is saying that if stroid testosterone was not detected in Chris Benoit's blood system then it is far more a reasonable assumption to presume he could have "naturally" occurring testosterone of 10 times normal human levels rather than conceding that with such high testosterone level steroids may have had a hand to play.
In doing the he therefore would feel non-obliged to back down from a righteous position that he himself made, in apologising to someone who has shown a difference of opinion and a patience and level-headness that is damn near saintly.
Of course like many similar arguments it is obvious to pretty much everyone else what is going on.
Irrespective of how good a wrestler Chris "The Canadian Crippler" Benoit was (and make no mistake I was a big fan...he was a wrestling technician second to perhaps only Kurt Angle...even more so than Brett Hart) he was obvious on steroids and his testosterone levels prove it (whether the steroids he used are detectable or not).
I think personally Kylo deserves an apology, as do you, as does my girlfriend, but I don't see it coming anytime soon.
I know mate. You know. In fact probably anyone reading this thread understands this but with replies like this:
Rossco, you have no idea. Enough said.
Well.....let's just say does it really matter what denotes logic, reasonableness and rationality.
There is an apt expression which involves "flogging" and "a dead horse" which springs to my mind.
Is a "high level" ten times normal possible without actual injections, though?
I don't think any of us made the inference that there was no naturally occurring testosterone in the body. I didn't and neither did you Kylo. We did find it a little odd that 10 times the normal amount of male testosterone was found in his body is assumed to be ok....because I guess he was very masculine? LOL. The analogy with serotonin is a very good one.
At the end of the day it appears myself, you, Callista, JennaP and everyone else who can see the obvious correlation to enhanced testosterone levels in Chris Benoit and steroid use would HAVE to be wrong. To be otherwise may actually Timelord would have to be wrong. I can't see an admission of this anytime soon.
As to him acting rationally or committing the murder because of "roid rage" - who knows?
What he did was not really that rational in my opinion, but who knows? Who really cares?
"On May 1, 2003, Luger's girlfriend, and former valet, Elizabeth Hulette, died in the townhouse they shared in Marietta, Georgia after mixing pills of hydrocodone, Alprazolam (Xanax), and anabolic steroids (testosterone and sazien) with vodka. Luger was arrested later that day after a search of the residence revealed a number of illicit controlled substances, including anabolic steroids, OxyContin, synthetic growth hormone, testosterone and Alprazolam. He was charged with 14 drug possession counts, 13 of them felonies. He was released the following day on a bail of $27,500 USD. Hulette's death was eventually ruled accidental. Luger pled guilty to the charges on February 3, 2005. He was given a $1,000 fine, sentenced to five years probation and required to submit to periodic drug testing.[59]"
Lex Luger he was a WWF wrestler wasn't he? That Elizabeth, she wasn't Macho Man Randy Savage's wife/manageress was she?
I am sure the drugs weren't his and that he was holding them for someone else (Some like Benoit?). I am equally sure that though on anytime in his wrestling career he probably had VERY high testosterone levels (probably even up to 10 times the average levels) he was not a user. The fact that WWF had never got him for steroid use was probably due to the fact he just didn't take them. He probably didn't get off lightly in respect to the death of Elizabeth either. I am sure he didn't have a high priced lawyer sponsored through WWF.
Steroid use...no he was just a big bloke and WWF is a steroid free zone.
Vince McMahon (owner of WWE)
"In 1989, McMahon tested the movie producing waters by co-producing the Hulk Hogan vehicle No Holds Barred. In 1990, McMahon again ventured outside of wrestling by founding a bodybuilding company called the World Bodybuilding Federation (WBF).
However, around 1992, things began to change. The WBF went out of business as alleged steroid abuse among both McMahon's wrestlers and bodybuilders came under scrutiny. In 1993, he was indicted after a steroid controversy engulfed the promotion. McMahon was put on trial in 1994, accused of distributing steroids to his wrestlers. As a legal move, his wife Linda was made CEO of the WWF during the trial. He was acquitted of all charges though he admitted to taking steroids himself in the 1980s."

10 more wrestlers are investigated for steroid misuse.
AND GET THE APOLOGY READY TIMELORD!!!
"Pro wrestler Chris Benoit, who killed his family before hanging himself in June, was a client of Signature Pharmacy in Orlando, Fla. Benoit had a steroid and other drugs in his system at the time of his death, according to investigators."
From the same news article "a steroid and other drugs in his system". That means he didn't just have a subhuman testosterone level and what Kylo said was right. The apology you owe to him is due....and all your insulting and being offensive over this point was useless.
Yes you were wrong and proved wrong. Whilst you are apologising to Kylo could you manage one to Wilky.
Thanks Timelord I did not think your pride, ego and righteousness could spare the fact that you could be wrong on this issue.
Of course you won't. I am sure there weren't. Yes naturally they were. If you like. OK? Ah I see (1 + 1 =3). Hmmm okay then, if you say so. Right....no orders. My pleasure. Sorry what were you gibbering on about?
What are HGH's? I thought Wrestling was supposed to be play-acting so why did this guy take so many hits to the head if he was doing it properly? Didn't he learn any break-falls?
Whatever the reason he killed his family and himself, it remains a dreadful tragedy and I hope some positive lessons are learned from it. If people such as him want to kill themselves, why take their families with them? I don't understand such reasoning.
If wrestlers often get bumps on the head that cause brain damage, the various federations need to take a good look at the sport and work out ways to avoid their people getting so many such injuries.
Keeping the sport clean of steroids and other performance enhancing drugs should also be a very high priority. Using artificial means to boost performance makes a mockery of sporting talent and competition.
Yes I agree Pro-Wrestling is a silly business.
