There is absolutely no way he has Aspeger's Syndrome. He is a talk show host, has had social interactions with thousands of people, all of which would be too much for someone with AS, and on top of that he's not afraid to take chances and he's a "shock jock", which is why he's offensive.
I just got through watching Howard Sterns hilarious & inspiring autobiographical movie Private Parts. Ive gotta say, if this movie's portrayal of his life and career is accurate Im just astonished not only at the outrageous things he said( which got him fired many times and kicked off the mainstream US media); but at his utter lack of social tact. I honestly have come to believe that Stern has aspergers syndrome; perhaps a very mild form of it but I really think he's a much better candidate than even Bill Gates.
The things he says certainly pose a direct challenge to social conventions but I refuse to believe that he is a "racist/sexist/mysogynist/homophobic....etc." simply because he crosses all social boundaries and isnt concerned about offending people or portraying himself as a 'good person'.
I hate to say this, but the allegation that Howard Stern has Asperger's Syndrome is one of the most ludicrous I've ever read... I know my Howard and there are some folks who you can be sure of, 100%, that simply don't have AS... he is one of them.
Yes the fellow is damn blunt and tactless, but there's no observable communication deficit anywhere in sight, verbal or non.
You can at least make the case for Bill Gates because of strong Math/Computer genius and the techie stereotype and "Aspies are great at academics," all of which fits him. Yes he dropped out of college but not because he didn't do well... it was because school couldn't accomodate his creative/inventive genius.
I am 100% certain that Fred Norris, one of Howard's sidekicks, has AS. Fred rarely talks, but when he does, he shows a breathtaking knowledge of trivia. Robin, Artie and Gary are all apparently NT.
I'd be wary of that 100% certainty. Some Aspies talk excessively (ever heard of "the Aspie monologue"?) to make up for a serious lack of nonverbal communication.
There's also some folks who are "shy geeks" who might happen to have a love for trivia. There's some overlap of Geek Syndrome and AS, but really, they are two very different things.
My uncle is very likely AS, and is an insatiable chatterbox... but I observe he can't read even a speck of body language, doesn't understand sarcasm, and it seems when he talks it's like a monologue as if no one else is in the room. And people get annoyed at that... but he can't read unspoken disapproval, so his monotonous voice just keeps on going.
I Hardly consider Howard Stern to be manipulative Batman55! If he was he wouldve found a way to get himself back on the mainstream networks. Do you realize how much money he's lost by being kicked off the air by that FCC??
BTW, EVERYONE in his profession is money-grubbing; greed is very much a part of human nature.
I suppose you're right. But he certainly is not lacking in the communication department... it may seem so, but what you are perceiving is really the work of a narcissistic individualist, who doesn't like to play by the rules. This by choice, not due to a social communication deficit as seen in AS. That's partly the difference between NPD and AS, by the way.
I really dont see him as a narcissist. Why do you think he's a narcissistic? He's just crude, crass, & unhibited. I realize that women and political correctists hate that but that doesnt make him a narcissist.
Well, I'm going to have to disagree with you. Sorry.
I don't know why I'm jumping into this one, but here it goes anyway.
I think a major problem today on both sides of the political aisle is neither party thinks the other has America's best interests in mind. Just because you disagree with the Democratic or Republican platform doesn't make it wrong. I don't think either Hillary Clinton or George W. Bush is out to destroy America.
You don't get a TV or radio show by being soft-spoken. Controversy creates ratings. Ratings mean advertising revenue. It's all about the bucks (i.e. Howard Stern... my tie-in to the thread

). That's not a bad thing in and of itself, but it leads to the extreme wings of both parties receiving air time.
The average American doesn't give a rip if you're a Democrat or Republican - they just want their life to get a little better each day and to see some progress and cooperation in the government.
For the record, I'm very strongly tied to one side of the aisle. I'll leave it up to you to guess which one.
I'd like to add that I have ZERO PATIENCE AND TOLERANCE for political correctness. People often get offended because they choose to do so in order to start a catty fight. Its really all about social posturing. PC people dont know *** about the things the claim to believe in-they just aspouse views that make them look like a good person.
Yeah. If a member insults Max because of his sexuality or if someone gives misleading facts about Autism, than am I being politically correct or wanting to look good for correcting them? If someone said something awful about Cancer that wasn't true etc and I got irritated, how does that play in?
Everyone has freedom of speech, or at least I'd hope so for America, and disliking political candidates for whatever reason is fine, and if you debate it fine.
Ziyaret, explain to us what you mean by political correctness. There's so consensus on what it means, so what do use it to mean?
Obviously I'm not Ziyaret, but I'll give my unsolicited opinion on what political correctness is anyway.
I think political correctness is not using words with perceived negative connotations to describe people. A few examples are "colored", "illegal alien", "handicapped", "queer", and "midget". These words were not meant as derogatory terms, but general society has now deemed these terms as offensive.
My personal opinion of political correctness is it's a way for everyone to feel like a victim. If you're a victim, you can justify feeling like the world owes you something and do whatever you want. Think about the Virginia Tech shooter's video. He blamed the rich kids for making him go on a shooting spree. Waah waah waah... it's your own fault for making me do this. Total BS.
"Boo-hoo-hoo! I don't get to call people ***s and *** anymore! I'm being denied my first-amendment rights! I'm a victim of political correctness!"
Those terms were/are meant as derogatory. Political correctness has nothing to do with it.
People who are victims of nothing made up the bogus concept of "political correctness" so they could cry and whine and call themselves victims of something.
I agree. That is the message I tried to state in my previous post. I think self-victimization is hurtful to yourself as well as general society.
People get to define themselves, Duck, and that includes naming themselves. That's integral to the idea of AFF -- Aspies establishing their own definitions and self-labeling. If that's an idea you find oppressive, maybe this would be a happier site for you:
http://www.freerepublic.com/home.htm
Wow. Where did you get the idea I think self-labeling (other than self-victimization) is oppressive?
Also, think about the last sentence in your above quote. That could very easily be construed as "I disagree with you, so go away and don't come back." Not much different from your earlier post -
"fixated on hatred of the other side"?
That sounds a lot like "If you don't agree with Glenn Beck, you hate America!"
I don't have to ask where you learned that.
(And did I guess your political affiliation correctly? Only a Republican could imagine that left-wing extremists have a voice in the mainstream media)
Absolutely 100% Republican and proud!
Extremism is about perspective. I personally don't think Fox News exhibits right-wing extremism. I have listened to Air America (admittedly in very small chunks), and I think the hosts there exude left-wing extremism. I'm willing to bet you disagree, Max. That doesn't make either of us wrong - we just have different opinions.
Just thought I'd ask, for the hell of it.
Ziyaret, could you help me find a woman?
